Any thoughts on the Gewurz? Scant info from VM "Don’t even try to guess what it is, just click “buy now”. I find myself hoping its' the Johanneshof but it doesn't quite fit & this is when hope clouds judgement. And yes, the site is different for me too (old outdated Explorer) so...

Re Star Lane Sangiovese: Yes, I too was underwhelmed. Already past its (presumed) peak. On the positive side the 3 associates grenache is very nice & all 3 mandala pinots 2010 prophet & 2010 & 2012 Matriarch are excellent. Willing to wear the sangiovese ... for now

    The Zinfandel thread

Hi All This is the third time I've tried to post here (#*!@^^*! browser). I was introduced to Zin by a mate 20-odd years ago who grew them on the Adelaide plains. Instantly captivated! Tangy & fleshy, great burst of flavour. But as Vinodiversity pointed out - it can be a bit of a ratbag in the...

Re: mof_ SECRET DEAL Riesling 2013 Hi All - Hardly shut my front door when a cheerful chap placed the Mandala Prophet Pinot & Miss Harry GSM in my hands, well on the floor. The Mandala is a beaut, so smooth & complex, probably at its peak - YUM. I've always enjoyed Miss Harry, but this one is...

Hi - the 2015 RMWS is where the 95 & gold come from. Interestingly, in 2014 the same wine scored as unrated ie less than 85 points. Can 1 year make that much difference?

The Pinot Noir & Grenache Thread

Sure did  Quite goodespecially at the price, but has a bit of Brett & wasn't better the second night, so I won't be letting them age too much.

I reported earler that I quite like the 2012 candles but agree that it would not be to everyone's (anyone else's?) taste. Good to share in a group as a 'talking point' at least! I don't think it will show improvement with bottle age, so drink up ... The 2013 being more shiraz dominant...

It's a while since I've tired their wines but Bream Creek is excellent. (I recently got their pinot - at home, but am "saving it"). :)

Chateau la clapiere cru classe rose 2014 - Got some of this delivered last night. It's a very nice, delicate Provencal Rose. Yes berry fruitiness but no cloying sweetness or signs of too much skin contact either. I wouldn't have wanted to pay full tote, but a lovely wine for $20. Very civilised...

Just by chance I came across this article from my sometime drinking buddy Philip White from the old days at the Exeter (a great writer). More on the W.E.T.

Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

I'll say they do. The Zinfandel is a cracker too! They haven't had a good enough year for the Parola's since 2009. Gotta love that integrity to not devalue their own brand. Say, Beefarmer - did you swing by & pick up some of this? And if not, why not? ;) Also I snared some of the Top Paddock...

I've tried both 1000's that VM have put up, this one is a more solid wine in terms of structure & predicted longevity. And probably tastes a bit more 'conventional' than the pinot-dominant 2012, so probably not quite as divisive in that respect. That touch of SB certainly is noticeable & lifts...

Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

So, 1 week on & now for the Zinfandel. One again 17% but you'd never know (provided you don't guzzle it like water). A very similar flavour profile to the Durif, but not so robust. Super smooth, velvety palate that just goes on & on. Once again, like the Durif, no hints of jamminess at all. No...

Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Please excuse the rudimentary notes  - I've never been good at descriptors. But gosh this is good! So smooth, luscious & complex. Huge @ 17.5% ABV, but balanced. Winery notes say more than I can: 2015 Parola’s Limited Release Durif | Warrabilla Wines Cracked one last Thursday, initially...
