"Ask Me Anything" with AFF Editor Matt Graham (5-6pm on 2 July 2024)

What is your proportion of work funded flights and self funded flights?

    MrsWF needs cheap QFF squiggles

This is not true. They transfer bags for international to international. https://www.jetstar.com/ph/en/help/articles/baggage-transfers

Why don't more Australians visit Guam or Saipan for holidays?

If you can tell me how I can get there in 6 hours I'd happily go.

    Woolworths gift card thread

Qantas has no problem selling an unlimited amount of frequent flyer points. We all know the consequences of that.

Batik Air (Indonesia) to start Bali-Canberra

SYD/MEL are still operating. I don't think it's right to say they have failed.

Article: Should Qantas Sell Status Credits?

They should. Price it really high to more than cover the cost of providing the status benefits. Some people will buy it at any price. Extra revenue source. Share price goes up. Shareholders are happy.

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

You say it's a flop because CR+ seats are plentiful. So if CR+ seats were as hard to find as CR then you'd call it a success? That measure of success contradicts with the whole purpose of introducing CR+ which is to make reward seats more accessible.

    Has flying J ruined you?

J is obviously nicer than Y but I wouldn't fly J at any cost. I won't pay more and double my flying time just to fly J. Even in J, you are still trapped in a small space for hours upon hours on end with nothing to do. I don't want to pay more to endure that for twice as long. When I was...

Pay for flight or use QF points

From a maths perspective, it is better to pay cash. Things which might change this is, if you are points rich and cash poor, have nothing better planned to use your points on in the future, chances that you might need to change or cancel the flight.

    Woolworths gift card thread

Yeah I was hoping they set some stock aside to release each day but that does not appear to be the case.

I recommend buying these at a human checkout. The amount of pop ups and manual approvals required is over the top insane.

Jetstar no longer selling Max bundle in Economy

Oh no this is tragic. I buy max bundles with all of my many Jetstar tickets. I was obviously on to a good thing which is why they have cut the benefits. I will need to work out how bad these changes are.

Qantas Travel Money changing to Qantas Pay - May 2024

On the topic of membership cards being phased out, should I choose a digital membership card or a digital membership card? 🤣

    Qantas Points Club

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there is nothing easy about buying the Mastercard deal this week. You'll be lucky to find two on the first day if you get there at opening time but I expect that will be it for the week.

    Reward Flight Questions

I would recommend reading this instead. https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/fly-around-world-using-qantas-oneworld-award/ The forum thread will likely just confuse anyone trying to learn.

    Reward Flight Questions

Qatar and Qantas had a fight so Qatar have given all their reward seats to Velocity which is where you will find them.

Fly in style, stay in ghetto. Anyone else do that?

How do you justify the cost of the first class flight? Presumably you spent only half the flight awake and well, there isn't much to do on a plane either.

    Taxis At Denpasar Airport Bali.

I will only book with Klook now. Cheap and reliable. Best part is that they have a staffed lounge at international arrivals (impossible to miss as you can't walk out of the terminal without walking past it). Peace of mind that there is a fixed meeting point and someone to call your driver if needed.

    Creative Routes Sydney to London

People have reported it's easier to get seats on QF flights to India. Then they complain about the difficulties in getting a transit visa lol.
