This "no outside food" thing is probably announced just once along with whatever else. It is not as if signs were plastered everywhere. Totally easy to ignore. I always bring along some stuff to eat on my SIN/SYD flights and the Scooties never said anything.

7 Eleven ATMs ( SevenBank) in Japan do not charge ATM fee for foreign Mastercard (eg Macquarie), but they DO charge a fee for VISA ( eg uBank). I was very surprised by this difference, but eventually figured it out. I thought they did not charge all foreign cards.

yeah, quite unpredictable. just today, i booked a TG (intra-Asia) trip. the same flights were not showing on United or aeroplan, so i was fully expecting the redemption to fail. but it went through.
