Jakarta Visa on Arrival, is it easy?

If it doesn't look like they are going to improve the visa options for AU passports in the next week, I guess I'd better go do this evisa thing.
Yes….

But if it’s any consolation, the Chile equivalent is A$170 - albeit multi visit within 90 days.

Indonesia has some other options but from what I can tell, they’re much more expensive than the single entry eVOA. ie passing through to avoid the Australia departure tax, you’re still better off buying two eVOA than one of the other multi-visit visa options. Happy to be told otherwise!

Anyone know about this? the 7 days $10 USD option.

Is it possible to get a Transit Visa on arrival in Indonesian airports?

Tourist and Transit Visa on arrival is available for nationals of these 52 countries and territories. A transit visa for up to 7 (seven) days costs US$10.00, and a tourist visa for up to 30 (thirty) days costs US$25.00.

I wonder how old that webpage is?

The official government website doesn’t mention a 7 day transit visa option. But handy if it’s possible again?
In more digging I think at least 10+ years. Apparently it was a thing but tripadvisor was already warning people a decade ago not to expect that option.

Apparently there was something pre Covid (maybe 3 days for free) but that was “enhanced”….

Just dealt with the eVoA thing for trip departing this Friday.

Easy enough. Just used the emailed version of the passport photo AusPost took last month. Hardest part was getting photo of passport info page transferred to PC from phone, and getting the site to accept the address of the hotel.
For some reason the visa site wants a PDF version of the passport data page, despite having already asked for a simple photo of said page.

and getting the site to accept the address of the hotel.
Ah, yes the trick is to start at the bottom with the postcode. Then most of the (what seems like a hundred odd) fields are auto populated leaving just the hotel name. This tip was mentioned a few times in the other thread.

Hmm, I don’t recall having to do that before but handy heads-up.

Hi. I talked to the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra about this 2 days ago. They confirmed that we needed to get visitor visas (B1), even if just transiting in Terminal 3 (alas, flying in on Qantas and out of Emirates, separate tickets) so we need to clear customs and check in again. So we're doing the VOA. It looks like the transit visa info is quite out of date.

Went through CGK immigration last night. Almost no one in the immigration queue when I got there, everyone going to the VOA booth first.
Some people went to immigration and were sent back to get the VOA.

Customs form is online. QR codes throughout arrivals halls and baggage claim, or kiosks in baggage claim. Have to fill out the form and show the generated QR code to exit baggage hall.

Yeah, you can do the customs thing online also before arrival but don’t try and print out. You end up with a massive full size A4 QR code….😳

thanks so much. visiting for a couple of work meetings, hoping to avoid too much chaos. (ticking the business box).

No, that would only be if staying long term and using a local physical sim card. No need to register imei for a short visit.

It's a complete ripoff though.

Almost as bad as the EUR50 VoA fee for Turkey for Aussie passport holders.

Exactly.

If it was an “ESTA” like thingy valid for 2yrs but still with the underlying 90 day stay (or whatever), then not so bad…

I just wish Australia would be "friendlier" to other nations.
Just went through China, have to waste time applying for a temporary stay permit/visa, whereas numerous European countries are now visa- exempt.
Same thing with Vietnam. We have to get a visa, but UK/Europeans do not need to.
Even our nearest neighbour, Indonesia, won't let us enter without a visa.
Sad.

To be fair that’s just a temporary thing but I do agree our foreign policy could be better. In 2022 Albo did suggest Indonesia could move to ETA but there hasn’t been any public visible progress on that?
