Avianca LifeMiles – Bookings and Discussion

I had an LM redemption with TG earlier this year and those fields became available once online check-in opened.

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Yes, full time since my FIFO days were untimely terminated. Hardly high value these days (if I ever was), having not flown QF since March 2020. Clinging to P1 till November with, hopefully then, a soft landing.

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

I had a call inviting us to a corporate function with some QF dignitaries in Bangkok next week. While I declined, I did appreciate the thought.

20% Reduction in Platinum/Platinum One Retention Thresholds (July/Aug/Sept Membership Year Ends)

There seems to be nothing on offer for expatriate P1s, with November expiry, zero SCs and not having flown QF for 3.5 years. I may have to reconsider my loyalty to Qantas.

    Transit/Stopover in BKK

The Novotel at BKK is definitely the best option if the price is acceptable. I used QFF points for our stay a few months ago. They still have the 24hr check in. There are also a couple of pod-type accommodations which charge by the hour. They're in the basement level walkway between Novotel and...

Changi SIN rating Best Airport is Poppycock

We left BKK on Friday (for SIN as it happens) and returned on Monday. It was very busy but they seemed to have plenty of staff and were actively managing the queues. We took about 20 mins departing in Y and just 5 mins returning with fast track. Bags were through already. I'd suggest sticking...

When you randomly hear the word 'airlines' and your immediate mental image is of air compressors and hoses. Genuinely just happened.

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Amazing - just had a call from Qantas Thailand asking where to send the Christmas gift - thats a first. I almost didn't answer as I don't normally pick up for numbers I don't recognize, but this one was persistent.

Prefer that that go to positive posters with the opportunity to use them at an F lounge. No PMs please.

Have you ever flown a plane?

No, it was in the UK. It was the thirteenth flight - my lucky number. Would have done spin and stall recovery on most of the preceding flights.

Have you ever flown a plane?

Does a glider count? I did a five-day course back in the 80s. On the Friday morning the instructor strapped a lead weight to his seat, slapped me on the back and sent me on my way. I got it back down in one piece, but only then did I learn that the instructor was still half-pissed from the night...

ISTR that Qantas used to sell bus tickets on a certain route, but I probably shouldn't have mentioned that.

Bangkok Thailand - Do we really need 20,000 baht in cash to enter?

It's 20K, or foreign currency equivalent, if entering on a visa, but only 10K if visa exempt - and yes it does have to be in cash, However it's virtually never checked or enforced. AIUI, it's used very occasionally as a convenient device to exclude someone deemed undesirable for other reasons.

QFF '2fa' but changed phone number

The 'Authenticator' app works well and avoids SMS issues, but I'm not sure if you can switch to that without having to call first.
