Alan Joyce to leave Qantas immediately

AJ leaves with his reputation in tatters but his bonus intact. Qantas meanwhile is on the nose with customers, politicians, the competition regulator and has got about 10 years of capex to catch up on. At least AJ's bank manager is happy.

Greens want to axe all flights from BNE 2200-0600

If the Greens had their way, everyone wanting to fly overseas would need to go into a national ballot with only a limited number of flights/seats each year. Those lucky enough to win the ballot would then need to plant the equivalent number of trees to offset the emissions from their flight...

QF now the 13th most distrusted brand in Australia (Roy Morgan)

Alan Joyce has done a great job running Qantas the "company", but a terrible job at running Qantas the airline. As a shareholder, you're over the moon, as a customer, not so much. When you have a strangehold on the lucrative domestic market and operating in an international market with pent up...

Unknown catering on MH from 1 Sep onwards (caterer "transition")

The fast food joints at KLIA will probably do a roaring trade 😆

Why does Qantas not entertain an overnight flight from Sydney to Singapore?

Same reason why SQ doesn't have an late departure out of SYD (i.e past 10pm), a very inconvenient arrival time into SIN. SQ used to have a SYD-CBR-SIN service which left SYD around 10pm and got into SIN around ~5am, which made it ok for early morning SQ connections, but without the extra...

Rex enters trading halt ahead of announcement

Rex is good at making money on subsidised monopoly routes. The moment competition comes along, John Sharp is rolled out in front of the media to whinge and sling mud at the competition. When the majority of airlines are making healthy profits in the current environment of reduced capacity, high...

Intl SQ J arrival in coughet options to expedite through to domestic terminal

Well SQ's latest catchphrase is "welcome to world class", so I intend to hold them to account on that one ;) I flew SQ J SIN-HKT in 2022 and they were operating their new 737 maxes then on the route which is a much better J product than the 738's and that was what I was comparing to.

Intl SQ J arrival in coughet options to expedite through to domestic terminal

When are you flying in? I flew on SQ736 in February (which seems like the same flight you're on) and we actually got a remote stand on arrival, so that meant a bus to the main terminal, so that is a potential wildcard to take into account. Immigration lines were non-existent thank goodness...

ING Bank Dropping 5 ATM Operator Fee Rebate Benefit from 1/8/23

If it is 3%, you're better off copping the foreign ATM operator fee and using the ING card in certain circumstances (depends on how much you're withdrawing and how much the ATM fee is).

    Next Qantas CEO: Vanessa Hudson

https://www.smh.com.au/business/companies/qantas-financial-review-boycott-cuts-copies-from-lounges-in-flight-wi-fi-20230504-p5d5qf.html AJ throwing his toys out of the cot because the AFR was being mean to him. Gets paid a multi million dollar salary and can't handle criticism

ING Bank Dropping 5 ATM Operator Fee Rebate Benefit from 1/8/23

Well loads of ING customers simply transfer in $1,000 and then instantly transfer out, they then make 5 tap and go transactions that are minimal in value to meet the requirements. At the same time, they hold minimal savings with ING and hold no other banking products with ING, but are able to...

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

Macquarie is 4.8% for the first 4 months, then reverts back to 4.00%. Citi is only 4.25% and is also only a 4 months intro rate before reverting back to 3.85%.

    Qantas fleet rebuild piece

Won't be AJ's problem when he jets off into the sunset having milked a fat cat salary over the years and cashed in all of his Qantas shares. When the next CEO reports lower profits ( higher depreciation and lower revenue from people leaving in droves) and higher debts (to fund fleet capex)...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Hi all, just wanted to confirm a Krisflyer redemption query with our resident guru's. I originally made a redemption booking in September 2022 for travel in September 2023. I now want to change the travel date to January 2024. When I rang Krisflyer, the agent said this was not possible as the...
