I was having issues over the weekend where I'd be entering names and details into a multi-city booking and I'd get a database error. Had it a couple of times so just called Qantas in the end. I think I've had nearly every type of error the last few months.

Just an update on this. EK flights are showing up now but still can get only as far as Sydney unless I want some 10 hour, 2 stop trip from SYD to ADL. So It's looking like it will be points to SYD with a paid flight back home. End result will be 420k in points and $3400 for the taxes and...

Now I really can't wait!

I could see the paid and points + pay flights but nothing when searching classic rewards. I will def do that. I'm in the habit of checking a few times a day so if something is released I should - touch wood- get it.

I will do. This will be our first trip anywhere in Africa and the family took some convincing!

That would be fine I think. I have an extra night held in Kruger on the chance that we might have to take a later flight.

That makes sense because the dates that were showing not much availability the other week now have a lot more which is mostly EK flights. EK means a bit of fine tuning the schedule and more points but would save me a significant amount.

That was my plan and what I've been doing every day but yep, school holidays may end up costing me a fair bit more than I budgeted for! Thanks for your help anyway.

After speaking with Qantas I'm not filled with much hope that this is going to work out! The agent said that they could see no award seats on any of the flights (including through Dubai or HK) from the last weekend of September onwards however he mentioned that the flight on the 12th which is...

Plot thickens.

They are the flights I saw on the app but when I try booking using classic rewards I'm getting an error every time. Confusing. Awaiting a call back now. Assuming I am able to book them on the phone, will they then charge me? For the privilege of phoning them I mean?

It was only showing the option to pay or use points but at the ridiculously high rate, not the classic rewards. So the flight is definitely there! If I do a normal search on Qantas (not rewards) then the flights show up also.

I just used the app and it showed availability but it seems I can only do the expensive points option through that. Pulling my hair out here. I've just called Qantas and requested a call back.

Did you do multi or just JNB - ADL? I'm doing 3 adults and a kid but that shouldn't make a difference. I'm getting the yellow error - Qantas.com flight search error: We are unable to find the requested outbound on any departing flights of the airlines that we search. (# 9200)

I think it is holidays which would explain why there seems to be plenty of JNB-SYD but no JNB-ADL. I will grab the JNB-SYD as you say and sort the rest out later. Thanks!

The Qantas flight is direct JNB - SYD so I reckon that is my best shot.

The outbound flight cost 180k points + $930 in taxes so the cash fares whilst not too bad will still cost me nearly $2000 more. I tried a multi-city search which gets me back to Adelaide ok, just it's only showing the EK flight which is 80k more points. Not really an issue to be honest as I...

I was just using a standard search with JNB as departure city and ADL as arrival. I'll have a go using multi and see what that comes up with. Thanks
