    Amsterdam on Two Months Notice

See if you can get to SIN, BKK, MNL or CGK cheaply - points or LCC (day flight should be OK), then price your flight to Europe from there. ME airlines out of CGK would be a good bet (eg Oman Air). Garuda flies direct CGK-AMS 3 times a week Vietnam Airlines flies to several European ports...

When Do Suite Night Upgrades Get Deposited?

I got to Plat via Accor Plus subscription and some other stuff - so what you are saying is that I won't get additional SNUs?

In case you need it for next time, the Royal Park Hotel is built into Terminal 3 :) . Both airside and landside versions.

When Do Suite Night Upgrades Get Deposited?

Different scenario. After attaining 4,000 status points while Plat, when should the additional SNU appear in the account? I seem to have hit 4,000 last 10 December. To make sure of eligibility: is it just a matter of adding up all the 'status points' posted against various stays while Plat...

    Colombia pre arrival info

Supposed to do it on departure as well. Did so, got the PDF and again, no-one cared. But I guess info might be pre-loaded into their system.

    Andorra

I have a few days out of Barcelona next August and am thinking of driving up to Andorra and eastern Pyranees. Does anyone have accommodation recommendations, or little 'must see' places? Did you end up going there in 2017 @JessicaTam ?

    What cheeses me off

Quite common. The merchant argues that its a fee paid to the bank, that they can't recover, so not refundable to the customer.

    What cheeses me off

Coles delivers! As does my local winery. No-one has mentioned that.

The hot and cold Xmas/NY break

One of my neighbours is a former test cricketer. All the tall, big blokes who used to be WI fast bowlers now do basketball, for more $$ and less effort. Then the internet took care of the rest. I spent 2 nights in Kingston for some research. Used a hotel car (expensive!) to get to research...

    What cheeses me off

I've had that battle for decades!! Bigger car - more (expensive) fuel, harder to get into little parling spots (and risk of damage). I once got them to rebate the fuel cost diff on mpg booked Vs mpg given, but only once (was Avis at Heathrow a long time ago.

    What cheeses me off

WCMO. I am now officially 'aged' Going to have a hand operation in a month - won't be able to drive for 2 months after it but will need to get 1hr into Hobart and back once a week for 4-5 weeks for physio. Call Community Transport Service - who I've used before - volunteers drive you down and...

    General Cruise Discussion

Its receipted and acknowledged in a letter. Unlike restaurants, where you leave immediately, you are with many of the 'recipients' for many days, so lots of opportunities to chat and the subject to come up, although I never did, as it happens. It would be a pretty audacious scam for the crew...

How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Thanks for the comment and re-iteration. I'll cancel my stay there for the AFF gathering. @Port Power - may take note too?

Annual NZ Dinner: AKL 8 March 2025

Thanks. There’s also another ‘procedure’ in the works, so I’m just clearing the decks completely for my first proper trip away, to the Arctic (Svalbard) in May.

Annual NZ Dinner: AKL 8 March 2025

I'm probably out. Hand surgery. Fortunately full refund on everything, incl my little Cook Island adventure. Might be able to nip across at the last minute if the surgery recovery goes well.

    Dress Codes when Cruising

In principle, yes, but have a look at the actual dress code I posted in the first post and tell me what it means :)

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

I haven’t followed the LATAM Qantas agreement for a while but I believe it might still be the case that Qantas actually “owns“ a certain number of seats on the LATAM flight. They have the right to sell them exclusively at least at first. This may explain the ability to price them like regular...

    Travel Insurance query

Flights commencing overseas and cruises beginning overseas are certainly not excluded from Australian purchased travel insurance in general. And I don’t know which policies would exclude them as it would negate the whole purpose of travel insurance for Overseas travel. Should be able to buy a...

    General Cruise Discussion

All the three cruises I’ve done have gratuities included in the fare. Therefore, I have no problem with not shelling out individually although I do occasionally if some service has been very good. And I always individually tip at the end of the cruise. Most of the individuals who you directly...
