Last year I couldn't get a J (U) release so I tried W (Z) and got 2 seats. I then put in a request for upgrade and as this was 5 months out left it at that. Then at around T-72 I got the upgrade approved message, so finished up right where I originally hoped.

Not sure I understand the allusion to the Titanic, but there is no doubt that QF seems to live in a perpetually over-committed state.

We usually book 15-18 months ahead, although it hasn't helped. The last 2 were cancelled, first one for Covid and the second one for war. We are now a little gun shy and have been putting off our next attempt (probably 2026) until Q1/2 next year to see what the new year brings.
