    2-in-1 light laptop choice

I did buy a Microsoft Surface Connect to USB-C Charging Cable from J-Go. It doesn't work for data (you can buy a super-expensive adapter from Microsoft that does that) but it is extremely handy for charging on the go. I have a 20000 MAh Xiaomi power bank with power delivery that works a treat...

    2-in-1 light laptop choice

I love my Surface Pro 6, so much so that I no longer travel with my Dell XPS 15. When I'm home I use both on a daily basis, so I have little trouble justifying the expense.

    Air Nauru 737

Nauru Airlines (ON) does not interline baggage. Your tickets will be on different PNRs, so you will have to collect your bags on arrival in BNE and schlep them to the International terminal to check-in for your ON flight. The ON baggage allowance will then apply, and they are strict about...

    Definitely a crash tender.

    Incident at CNS International?

Sitting in the CNS Domestic QF lounge, 1305 8 July. Just saw fire engine, with lights on, cross the runway and head for CNS International. Possibly just a small fuel spill, or something else minor, as all other engines remain parked.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Which means that we're now leaving AFTER the 1305 QF925 CNS-SYD (only delayed 20 minutes at this stage, ETD 1325). Departure of QF709 CNS-BNE also delayed from 1005 to 1400. Things unusually busy for a Saturday here in the CNS lounge.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Sat 8 July - QF931 CNS-SYD (0600 departure) delayed. ETD now 1300. Possibly related to last night's fog disruptions in BNE (?). Received SMS at 0400 to advise, so at least got to roll over and go back to sleep.

    Dell XPS 15 - reviews?

I've been very happy with mine, purchased almost a year ago, although "a bit pricey" is correct. I went with a 6th gen i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and the FHD screen (1920x1080) and have not regretted it. I avoided the UHD touch display for 2 reasons - the reported battery drain and...

QF Points and SCs flying PX??

My experience, with numerous flights on PX both internationally and domestically, confirms the above. Points but no status credits on international sectors; nothing on domestic sectors.

    Small leak proof containers

GoToob is the brand you need to look for. A little bit pricey, but well worth it. I've found them at places like Howard's Storage World.

    Air Niugini increases CNS-POM services

PX has said that QF will be codesharing on the POM-CNS flights from 30 October, "subject to regulatory approval" [Airline plans more flights]. This works out better for me, but it seems inevitable that fares on this sector will increase. PX's RAB-CNS flights didn't last long.

    Australian number whilst overseas

I have a cheap Android phone plugged in at my parents' house in Oz, connected to their wi-fi network. It has an Aldi mobile SIM with 365 days' validity. I use an app called PhoneLeash, which sends any SMS received to my email address. It is also possible to send SMS messages remotely via...

    POM renovations

The departure renovations are complete. Along with a number of duty free shops (including Prouds from Fiji) there are a couple of coffee shops. The standout for me is the Duffy outlet (a branch of the successful shop in Gordons). I wouldn't bother leaving the airport if I were in your shoes.

Yes, and the new Paradise Club in the revamped International terminal at POM is quite nice.

Port Moresby Crowne Plaza advice needed

Re lounge access. I fly through POM every couple of months (working in Bougainville). I am QF SG and have access to the Paradise Lounge if I am on a QF flight, either codeshare to BNE or SYD, or QF metal to CNS (QF and PX do not code-share on the POM-CNS sector).

PX Approved to fly direct HGU-CNS

PX = Air Niugini; HGU = Kagamuga Airport, Mt Hagen, Western Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea. The PNG Government is also providing financial assistance to PX for international flights into GUR (Gurney Airport, Alotau in Milne Bay Province). It was originally announced that the flights...
