What benefits can supplemental platinum cardholders duplicate?

Only Platinum Charge additional cards get (limited) lounge access; for all other cards, the 2 or 4 lounge passes are tied to the main card. Insurance will generally apply to additional cardholders (although I’d have a quick skim of the T&Cs for exclusions). For hotels, I assume you mean access...

Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

I think we’re more likely to see the Explorer dropped (considering that card seems mostly abandoned) and perhaps a reintroduction of the Gold card in that $500-$750 range. Platinum will get a refresh next year considering the dining credits expire this year and whatever replaces them will need...

    New Amex statement credits

I understand that the Shop Small campaign was to drive acceptance by small businesses and encourage us to use the card more often, both of which I assume they’ve achieved. But 4 days is insulting - unless I have purchase from a small business planned (I don’t), I’ll maybe get 50 bonus points...

    2x Black cards?

Nab allows you to hold / get the sign up bonus for their Nab rewards and Qantas cards separately. Westpac technically don’t, but there is no exclusion from doing one Westpac and one St George / BoM / BSA card.

Oops 😅 I don’t think I need a subscription anyway - clearly my reading comprehension skills are not up to par!

    New Amex statement credits

The Financial Times offer is bizarre. Spend $100, get $70 back but their highest tier is $95 per year? I literally can’t figure out how you’d use it unless there’s a way to stack subscriptions.

    A question of travel insurance

Platinum Edge uses the same coverage as the Explorer. Buy additional coverage if this cover doesn’t suit as you won’t be covered by the Platinum Charge policy.

Bonus Points criteria - Amex Velocity Card

The rep is correct. You’re only eligible for a bonus from Amex if you haven’t held a card with them for 18 months, have held a David Jones Amex only, or currently hold a corporate card.

Credit Card Offers Amex Essential Rewards Card Discussion

Definitely have been seeing this across more products (Nab will start doing this with their highest tier card in June - switching from a $295 annual fee to a $24 monthly fee). It probably intends to avoid not only that initial sticker shock but also stop customers having that second shock when...

Credit Card Offers Amex Essential Rewards Card Discussion

Just saw that the Amex Essential card is back on offer, now with an 80k sign up bonus and a $9 per month fee. Very interesting to see multipliers on different spend categories, something that largely disappeared when the points ‘enhancement’ happened back in 2019...

Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

The Platinum card’s insurance T&Cs say that you have to use your corresponding Membership Rewards points or frequent flyer points (listed on the same line) to pay for the full amount of your outbound ticket. To me, corresponding indicates the frequent flyer points need to be derived from your...

Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

I’d probably be okay with a $1,600 AF if the benefits remained the same but they got rid of the 3% FX fee and broadened the travel insurance coverage so I could be secure knowing I’m still covered when I use a flight credit or points gained from other sources.

Swapping to a different American Express card

Can confirm the above. Applied for the Platinum charge while holding a Qantas Ultimate and it did not trigger a hard pull. Auto approved as well and was not asked to supply documentation. You can only ‘upgrade’ if you currently hold an existence charge product (ie Green or Gold).

    NAB Rewards - Accor Status

Hi all, Not sure if this is best suited here or in the Accor forum, but I’ll shoot my shot. Currently looking into getting a Nab Rewards Signature card and converting points to Accor. I’m a lowly Accor Silver member so I want to also take advantage of the Gold upgrade as well. Does anyone...

    Amex Rejection earning $300k

Not sure what to tell you. A mortgage is a loan, but a $300k line of credit attached to a mortgage is potentially $300k cash you could spend and owe someone that isn’t Amex. Lenders won’t be particularly interested in how much cash you have in the bank either because at the end of the day, that...

    Amex Rejection earning $300k

You earn $300k and have a line of credit of $300k. Amex has no way to tell if you’re going to max out that $300k line of credit tomorrow and be unable to repay your credit card. The law requires you to be able to pay the full amount of your credit limit within 24 months (income minus expenses...

Credit Card Offers Qantas Amex Ultimate: 50,000 bonus Qantas Points (until 14/1/25)

The only Amex cards that did not preclude someone from getting the sign up bonus from a 'main' Amex card (at least in the past 5 years) were bank-issued Amex cards, the David Jones Amex and the Westpac Altitude Amex - all of which have been discontinued. The only scenarios where you can have...

Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

Edit: Someone said the exact same thing above me haha - basically, there's no need to wait the month it takes for the card to come via sea mail from Hong Kong.

    AMEX rejection

I suspect churners are still welcome by card companies if they spend a lot and/or keep using the card after the usual 3 month sign up bonus spend period.

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

Probably a bit OT for the Amex forum but the Citi Premier offers that low tier PP (2 free visits and US$35 for subsequent visits) and that card is currently being offered with 200k Citi points for a first year AF of $150. Could be worth a look in your situation.
