Intro and my best frequent flyer tip

I have an even better tip. Use shave oil rather than gel. With shave oil you need only a small squirt or 3-4 drops for a shave. Means you need only carry 20 ml of shave oil for a year's worth of travel. And it can be used as an after shave balm as well. I would not use it long term (more than...

    WP treatment in Y

I have flown more QF international Y this year that almost any other year I can remember since becoming WP. Driven by lots of personal flights home from BKK in addition to my normal load of J class business travel. As a result I have experienced a lot of WP treatment on QF 23 and 24. The...

2400 SCs earned, 4 more months of flying and won't make P1. What should I do.

is a good idea, the only risk is it may mean flying United to America.....

2400 SCs earned, 4 more months of flying and won't make P1. What should I do.

and Can you help me out with how the transition works. Say I join AA and end up as a NB or similar on my first flight. How to I get access to lounges and other Emerald benefits from my QF WP status while I ring up the necessary flights to get to a higher status on AA. I presume that I cant...

2400 SCs earned, 4 more months of flying and won't make P1. What should I do.

At the end of my last trip I ticked over the 2,400 SC mark and cashed in for 50,000 points. But now I have to decide where to credit my next four months of flying. I won't make P1 because I am based in BKK and my upcoming big trips are to Europe and America (mainly flying CX). Simply not enough...

QF vs. EK - review of experience on SYD-BKK flights

Thanks for this. I do a lot of BKK-SYD flights. Am about to take my first EK J class. I agree with you completely about the overcrowding in the F class lounge for QF 23. I have not got a table the last three times. Most recently the bar was full too and they began serving at lounge chairs.

    New-look Qantas Frequent Flyer cards

last week I moved my QFF card from my travel wallet to my normal wallet. This week I stopped this practice and returned it to my travel wallet. Reason? All last week my auto pay card for public transport stopped working. I used to be able to hold my wallet up to the ticket barrier and walk...

Best Business Class Seats? [by Airline/Model/Configuration]

I also vote (in order) CX QF VS BA SQ CX is the best of the bunch at the moment. CX trumps QF with better entertainment system and length of the seat. QF have better food (though "second plate" stuff is hit or miss at the moment) and a wider seat. Toss up between BA and VS. VS atmosphere...

How often does QF Int. at seat entertainment require CSM rebooting?

Happened to me two weeks ago flying BKK to SYD. Used to be an every other flight occurrence from 2006-8. But seemed to be under control of late until my recent flight. Either way system is due to a big upgrade. Lagging CX and EK

    The WP shadow

I have been doing a lot of Y class travel from SYD to BKK. It is a day flight so happy to do it in Y and save points for J class in the other direction. My treatment as a WP in Y varies greatly depending on the crew. Sometimes they treat me well, sometimes they treat me no differently. Same too...

The ex-QFF benefits list. What do you miss the most?

I first joined the QFF program in 1991. In those days a trip to Europe in Y earned enough points for a free Sydney to Noumea round trip. And when I say free, I mean 100% free. No taxes, fees, petrol or "just because" charges. In the years since I have mainly been WP but have spent time in...

Mornings in Sydney - another QF/EK Alliance consequence

Good question but no. This is the third morning flight I have taken out of Sydney since the Alliance and each time I have noticed the large increased in pax numbers - especially the traffic coming in and the lack of space in the lounge.

Mornings in Sydney - another QF/EK Alliance consequence

Mornings at Sydney airport are crazy at the moment. Traffic is backed up half a km from the airport, check-in is a scrum, security is a war zone and (yes this is a real first world problem) it is impossible to get a table for breakfast in the QF first class lounge. I presume this overcrowding is...

Emirates shameless efforts to "steal" Qantas top flyers

and you still haven't. Nowhere in my post do I complain about the upgrade. In fact my post contains no complaints at all. I suggest you re-read and you will see that I am commenting with interest on the implications for the relationship between EK and QF of EK (possibly) targeting QF top flyers...

Emirates shameless efforts to "steal" Qantas top flyers

Sorry - i misunderstood the question. I thought you were asking generally about whether or not they knew about status not a specific question on whether they new about WP or WP1. To that point I dont know but assume that if oneworld carriers dont know then EK doesnt know

It was displayed on my boarding pass like you would see with a one world carrier

Emirates shameless efforts to "steal" Qantas top flyers

In all my flights as a QF WP I have been upgraded from biz to first 4 times - once on CX, once on BA, twice on EK (once each way on same trip). Never on QF. The only QF upgrade I have ever received is from economy to premium economy

Emirates shameless efforts to "steal" Qantas top flyers

I think if you re-read my post you will see that I am not complaining. In fact the product and experience was amazing. Rather I am highlighting a possible area of tension between QF and EK if it is true that EK has a program/plan to target QF flyers for "conversion"

Emirates shameless efforts to "steal" Qantas top flyers

I am QF WP. Have been for 10 of last 11 years. I flew EK recently for the first time from BKK to DXB. My prompting to fly EK was the new EK and QF deal. I was flying under an EK number so only getting a fraction of the miles I would if it was a QF code share number but preferred that to...

Flying EK - should I collect miles on QF or join Skywards?

I am a QF WP flying EK next month from BKK to DXB and back in J/D class. This is my first time flying EK despite more than a decade of averaging 200k miles a year. I am looking for advice on the best way to collect miles for this flight. I know that I can collect miles on QF flying EK but at...
