Recently flew NH ORD-NRT in F... (Lifemiles redemption) and it was every bit as good (better in some ways like bigger screen etc) as my CX F experience (opup) and WAAAY better - naturally - than the BA flight I did up front. I would find it hard to believe that NH F was affected in any way...

Every incident/situation which I have ever been actually involved in or had personal knowledge of.... that WAS reported in the media, was misreported to a lesser or greater extent. I'll trust jb747s comment. And wait for the report....

Flew back that way 2 weeks ago. The Polaris lounge at ORD was a nice start to the trip...and F on NH was.... damn good. (No surprise there! lol) Only 2 pax in F...and the FA made up the seat across the aisle into a bed so I could move from one to the other as desired. The problem with F...

Given the accounts here of QF charging an airfares worth of YQ on Y redemptions it is...ahem... interesting to hear THEM complain of "gouging"...no? :)

Why? Because THEY were pretty much claiming that folks with babies SHOULD get priority for those seats! Funny how that principle suddenly becomes flexible.... P.S. just where can you PAY to use a wheelchair parking spot?

Not me....... ORD-HND (F) then HND-SYD (J) came up just fine during a search on the LM site about 10/11 months ago.... Flew it a few days ago.... worth every cent..except for the strange feeling on sitting down in the J seat for HND-SYD and thinking.."Hmmm.... bit ordinary!" LOL

My only quibble with that (it is an opinion piece largely after all and well and clearly written) is the assumption that "society is governed by these loyalty programs"... I think your (our) experiences might colour our views on just HOW MANY people play these games... or even know or care...

An old friend was an AA pilot for many years (retired now). His main comment about the MD-80 was that it was a "rocketship" and you had to pay close attention to getting it slowed down! He doesn't have that problem with his own aircraft...lol...a Piper Super Cub with Alaskan tyres.... :)

Flew LAS-ORD a few days ago in First (using old US Airways miles that moved across with the merger) . FLIGHT was very nice indeed. friendly, attentive FA. Informative pilot (take off weight and speed? Thats a first for me) The Kosher meal was outstanding...and more food than I could eat...

On NH111 as we speak...and the view from First seats IS very restricted. This aircraft does not have the very newest F.... but from what I can see of the new F advertising it will be the same or even worse. Im only 5' 7" so I didn't even notice that curvature...….

Interesting! I would hope the bags will be checked/tagged all the way.... allowing you to use the baggage drop after Customs.... and further hope THAT would mean you don't need to worry! Im sure someone knowledgable will be along shortly....

I think you are going to struggle to fine "reasonable" one way fees... I looked at this a while back (ended up flying) but the usual advice I found was: 1. If possible do two rentals - from Pickup to a drop off point close to the border - make your way by other means (train?) to a pickup...
