    16A or 23D on QF 744 J

I do like the UD, but am not sure I would call it a "private jet" feeling. I don't think its quite the same feeling as what that female TV personality gets on her global express ;).

MEL-FRA in J, QF vs SQ/LH, which to choose?

Hi, I am travelling Mel-Fra return in Feb 11, and the company TA has offerred both the straight QF option (via Sin) and the SQ Mel-Sin/LH Sin-Fra option. Travel is for work and in J. QF is over $2k more expensive, so I feel I should take the SQ/LH option (but not forced to). I am WP, so get the...

    16A or 23D on QF 744 J

16A is my seat of first choice on the 744. I ring to request it the moment my booking is confirmed.

    WP perks when in whY

Of course the main WP perk when flying whY is the FLounge access :).

Qantas First Lounge - Sydney. Guests

I have been admitted with my wife and 2 daughters (15 and 11) as guests in MEL a couple of times and Sydney once, flying Y on QF and J on JQ. I have never been knocked back, so its worth a try.

    Qf9 mel -> sin -> lhr

That doesn't sound like a lot of fun for you. From memory (based on flights in J, but think the meal timings are the same), QF9 meals are: > about 2 hours out of Mel - dinner > about 1 hour before Sin - breakfast > about 1 hour out of Sin - dinner > about 1 hour before Lhr - breakfast Good...

Tiger - Carry on baggage questions

Thanks Medhead, it looks the same as what QF use, so at least I have an idea of the size. Regarding the wife/daughters and carry-on, I expect exactly the same. It will end up costing more than we would have paid on JQ, where we would at least have had lounge access and earned SCs and points! ;)

Tiger - Carry on baggage questions

I have just done a sample check of a few, and it appears none will drop off at T4. Apparently they are not allowed to do so, as there is only a single road in, which would get too clogged. Oh well, a 200m walk isn't so bad I suppose, particularly as we're hand luggage only (I'm still...

Tiger - Carry on baggage questions

well there's a few carparks with shuttles available, so hopefully at least one will stop at T4. I'll use that to determine which to use.

Tiger - Carry on baggage questions

Yes, I will do OLCI as early as possible. Its quite alarming looking at the extra charges if you check in at the airport, or have any additional luggage! I will need to look up where T4 is, I've never actually been there. I'm planning to use one of the off-site carparks that offer shuttle...

Tiger - Carry on baggage questions

Thanks, that is very helpful. Up to 10kg per person is useful, especially travelling with wife and 2 daughters ;).

Tiger - Carry on baggage questions

Thanks, but I rarely fly JQ either, so don't really know what they allow. I usually fly QF, and as I am WP probably get away with more than what is really allowed. I have heard that TT is very tight on their rules, and so anything slightly over size will cost extra and have to be stowed.

Tiger - Carry on baggage questions

I am soon to embark on my first ever flight on Tiger, return MEL-OOL with the family mid September. We have booked carry-on baggage only tickets, which allows 7kg per person. However, I can't find anywhere what the dimension limitations are for the bags. Is any (reasonable) size ok, as long...

    Upcoming flights - questions

While the 6 hours with possibly no lounge access in LAX is a real worry, the other issue you have with your itinerary is the short transfer time in SYD prior to heading to LAX. You say you have just achieved WP, and so I assume this will be your first opportunity to visit the FLounge? If I...

In London and trying to second guess what qantas might do

I am booked on QF31 SYD-LHR on 23/4, and QF have just confirmed they will recommence flights that day. As this is my first flight on the A380 and is also the flight I need to retain my WP status prior to my year end 30/6, I am very happy about this :). Now I'll just keep my fingers crossed...

Domestic seat selection now up and running

Thanks, I usually fly into FRA and then intra-Europe on LH, so did not know if this was a new feature or not.

Domestic seat selection now up and running

I'm not sure if this is new or not, but I was also able to select my seats on my BA flights from LHR to VIE return, for my April trip. Its great, I have now pre-selected seats for the entire trip: MEL-SYD - 2B on a 737 SYD-LHR - 12F on A380 (Yay, first time on the 380 :)) LHR-VIE - 2C on...

    Lounge Access Possible?

As a J pax, with no QP membership, no you cannot invite a guest into the lounge. Thats what the rules say anyway, but I would still try it when you get to there.

"It's not just me flying..." - the "rules" of sharing status benefits

When I do holiday with my family (which my wife and 2 daughters tell me is not often enough ;)) or travel with a non-status colleague, I have always just gone straight to the priority check-in queus, even using the First check-in for all of the family when travelling international in Y. There...

    Priority Phone with Platinum

I agree with this, there are real benefits in dealing with the premium desk. If I ring to request my favourite J seat 16B on a 747, the premium desk will usually put me on hold for about 1 minute while they ring seating, and then confirm the allocation. If I get answered by the normal desk...
