And I've done it too. Many times. But in true J class these days (with lie flat seats etc), the novelty of doing double or triple transits/connections is wearing off for me. One single transit, at an airport with a decent airline lounge with showers, can be better than multiple transits, some...

You might also have to double transit as well. Certainly with QR, EK and many other airlines that don't fly non-stop from those cities to Europe.

I don't know about that. But the airlines can have valid reasons to cancel flights without needing to offer the compensation.

And, as I discovered personally, some parts don't apply when the airline is directed by the airport or the aviation authority, to cancel a number of its flights. (eg, due to forecast weather) The opening post needs more detail of the exact circumstances.

IMO it's not run down. It's more like a Qantas regional lounge than a Qantas capital city lounge. Fancy it isn't. But it's reasonably decent. The terminal isn't any great shakes either.

Check Ramadan dates. Although it's a very interesting time to visit. I chose the Hilton. It was available at the time. I received all HH Diamond benefits (limited somewhat during Ramadan) but no HH points or nights.

I suspect so too. QF flights to most of the Pacific Islands are double catered from Australia. They can't offer things like chicken salads in the to Australia direction on the 737s because there is no cold storage for food. Something went wrong with the catering.
