Hobart Qantas lounge

I am going to Hobart for a family trip and was wondering if I should use the lounge passes I received from credit card to access the lounge, I read from the comment it is a really run down lounge, has there been any improvement to it since?

IMO it's not run down. It's more like a Qantas regional lounge than a Qantas capital city lounge.

Fancy it isn't. But it's reasonably decent.

The terminal isn't any great shakes either.

It's a small room with a few chairs (if you can find one), a coffee machine and a few bottles of wine. As long as your expectations aren't for more than that, go for it.

With the small lounge at HBA, I also wouldn't be surprised if CC lounge passes were not accepted in the same way that guest passes in other smaller lounges like Gold Coast are not available to be assigned.

I've been there a few times lately. It's not great but neither are other Qantas regional (and some capital city) lounges.

The wines are OK. There's free pour spirits (not available in the other capital cities), beer, a range of soft drinks, a coffee machine and some finger food options.

On my last visit, a few weeks ago in December, I went out to the terminal area for a few minutes. While the QF lounge was busy, the terminal area was absolute chaos!

I tried to guest someone in two months ago using a transferred lounge pass, but they wouldn't let them in, nor the other member of my group who I was guesting in with my Platinum status. Because of "congestion", they were only letting in business class and status passengers.

I have honestly had some of the best service I have ever received, in this lounge, on the rare occasion I bother to enter. But I agree, not worth blowing a lounge pass if there are other opportunities. It just doesn't have good enough food or beverages. Seating has been revamped lately, but it is still very crowded even with just a couple of QF/JQ flights on the schedule.

I don’t know if it’s just my poor timing but I swear everytime I use the toilet it’s like steeping into a third world country. I honestly can’t say I’ve ever seen it clean

Same.

I guess you mean travel arrangement assistance at the front desk? That wouldn't surprise me but for most punters it doesn't mitigate the permanent over crowding, awful toilets and basic buffet. I'm another who often sits in the gate lounge rather than the lounge.

They are (QF and the lounge) constrained by the ultimate size of Hobart Airport, it was meant for just QF and at that time, AN, now we have 3 airlines flying out of there.
JQ and QF would put a lot of demand (read pax) into that lounge.
And HBA airport is probably happy to have it as it is, max rev and profit, min costs, as the operation of the lounge is not HBA core ops, all outsourced.
Good money spinner.
3 airlines and the other small operators landing fees, plus vending machine income, ... $$$.

Toilets in the lounge not working/ not clean?

To see other pax in my group. Actually, once most of the JQ pax left to board, the lounge became pretty uncrowded. The lounge staff allowed me to invite them in, to wait out the 45 or so mins delay of our QF flight. It was still packed in the terminal with snaking boarding lines and a couple of VA flights leaving soon.

The lounge toilet, while old and small was OK.
