Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

So basically if Platinum, for renewal of 800SC you need 400 SC on VA metal all flown by individual, 400 additional can be achieved by pooling or with partners (good luck with that with the partner earning reductions). Does that sum it up or am I missing something?

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

I think so yes. Looking at the redemption levels of the partners....probably find not many VA elites will have status going forward. The status earned on Singapore Airlines certainly in Y class ...they may as well offer nothing!! Massive reduction

Recent Experiences with Qantas' terminal transfer at SYD

Yes but having to trail all across the airfield to another terminal some distance away makes it also difficult. For me next time it's easy.....I fly from origin to Singapore, no need for bag pick up...and then connect directly to where I want to go in Australia ignoring the carry on at SYD.

Recent Experiences with Qantas' terminal transfer at SYD

Look it's possible....even with a tight turn around but it's never ideal. It's an awful airport with ridiculous international to domestic requirements especially and while the other way around at least no need to pick up your bag and re check in its not brilliant. Maybe one day it will all be...

    Melbourne SkyBus gone up again

Try and get public buses in Albania full stop!! I think using Albania is a poor example. It's not exactly a major European country.....in fact for many years was as socialist as it goes....and not that long ago really hardly had enough electricity to power the country never mind Tirana! But yes...

Best travel insurance [Is Qantas TI any good]

Yes that's the same as my current provider. However they do not ask where you are or maybe travelling. It's an annual one so who knows where one may end up. I'm not going to X amount of places I may visit in 12 months. 1741518312 Poor programming.....

Best travel insurance [Is Qantas TI any good]

Looking at the annual policy for Qantas TI...yet it seems to want you to put in your destinations...including stopovers. Why? It's annual policy for worldwide destinations. That's just ridiculous.

Article: The problems with Virgin Australia codeshare bookings

Yeah as a simple comparison...I was looking at some Singapore Airlines flights to Tokyo from Perth via Singapore and comparing Cathay flights via Hong Kong. Also looked at ANA direct from Perth ...all would be in Y class. I'm Platinum with VA and Gold (OW emerald) with BA at the moment ..final...

Triple Velocity points to Tasmania (book by 9/3/25)

I have still refrained as the prices are far to high.

    Melbourne SkyBus gone up again

CDG has wonderful rail connections and Lisbon city is 20 minutes away by subway.

    Melbourne SkyBus gone up again

Absolutely. In fact CDG has a wonderful railway station.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

The earnings were numbered for a while with the Alaskan involvement with Hawaiian. Also they basically offered nothing in terms of priority boarding or lounge access. I guess they will probably align more to QF.

    Melbourne SkyBus gone up again

I believe it's a contract between the Victorian Govt and Arnold Bloch Leibler who acted in the negotiation on behalf of Skybus. I suggest yes..exclusive rights.although for how long I'm not sure.

    Melbourne SkyBus gone up again

Most airports in Europe are privatised. It's competitive practices that helps to keep some with lower prices.

    Melbourne SkyBus gone up again

Competition is the key but say at MEL point to point with bags is really what people want. I think Skybus works reasonably well. Quickish and convenient but I see it's prices have risen again. Now a competitive company doing the same run would make a big difference.

Triple Velocity points to Tasmania (book by 9/3/25)

I should think so....I was looking at this ex PER. Prices quite expensive still but triple.points is a good return (on a choice fare).

Qantas cabin refresh for 42 Boeing 737s from 2027

Are we sure as yet that they won't just add an extra row in Y? It is after all what "we all want" isn't it....I'm sure they will tell us that sometimes. Still.mystified that they think on 24 year old aircraft in some cases it's worth all this refurb. It's certainly not for pax comfort.
