I can see why AA are in Chapter 11

I had this exact same experience at T4 in LAX a few years ago, except my daughter was only 6 months old at the time. As I'd simply presented my own boarding pass and WP card they had decided my wife was there as my guest and my daughter therefore wouldn't be allowed access to the Flagship...

What the best seat(s) to choose in First class on A380?

Re: F seating on Qantas A380 Personally I'm not a fan of 5A - the closet to the right is used by the cabin crew and it can be annoying when they keep opening it (with the bright light inside) during sleepy time. 5K is my favourite, and when flying with my wife we prefer to sit in window seats...

Security - what's the most senseless confiscation?

Security at CBR tried to confiscate a small mylar balloon (perhaps 10cm diamater) from my 2 yr old daughter last year - we were there to meet her cousin from the UK and had the small balloon as a welcome gift. Apparently the balloon presented a threat to the safety of an aircraft because it...

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Heated steering wheels are great - our Cayenne Turbo has one (as standard) which automatically turns on when it's less than 4 degrees outside. A really nice touch especially if you're up at the snowfields after a long cold day or just jumping in and out of the car on a winter morning in Canberra.

Invitation - Qantas 2012 Corporate Travel Show

Sadly I had other commitments this afternoon so only managed a very quick visit and didn't get to meet anyone else from AFF this time. I had a good chat to the BA reps about their new A380 First layout and the AA reps about their updated First product on the 773-ER which is coming early next...

48 hours free in Paris - What to do?

The Citroen store is open again - my wife was there last week.

48 hours free in Paris - What to do?

If you're not sick of cars at the end of the motor show, take a walk down the Champs Elysses and stop into the various (free) car displays along the way. Most of the French car makers plus some others have merchandise stores where most of the floorspace is taken up with their flagship vehicle...

Special Members Area with designated access qualifications?

Re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A No specific comment on the subject of the special area, but I am happy to confirm that neither of the above claimants are indeed Alan Joyce - he was in First on QF128 last Sunday at the time of those postings... :p

    Car purchase on AMEX

Another potential consideration is that if the vehicle is being purchased by a business then the 3% (or whatever) surcharge on the vehicle purchase will most likely be tax deductible. If the purchase was made using a card that accrues FF points in a personal name then it's a case where an...

Booking using Voucher still appearing as a voucher online?

I've seen this twice in the last few months when redeeming a voucher for a flight booking. Check My Trip correctly shows the flight details etc as well as a note that the booking was redeemed from a voucher (or words to that effect). The QF website just shows the booking as a voucher with a...

Release of Business Class Seats DFW-SYD Jul 2013

Given that award seats are always difficult to obtain, especially in premium cabins, I'd be suggesting you book those available seats on the 16th & 17th now. If you have to change or cancel them at some point in the future (ie if better dates do become available) it'll cost you a nominal...

AA domestic flight lounge access at DFW

The D terminal A/C is also a nicer place when you're travelling with young children. They have a great enclosed play area with TVs, computers with kid's games and small seats for little ones to draw at etc, and in the time we were there a bar attendant came past on several occasions to take...

Going after P1 to get Row 4 seating, but have any other benefits materialised?

I'm keenly following this thread as I'm in a very similar position to others who have posted - a month left on my membership year, no 'necessary' travel left to do but only 380 SCs (70 of those on QF) needed to reach P1. Any thoughts as to whether it's worth a couple of SC runs to reach the...

Where have all the CX J and F class awards gone?

Not sure how far out you are looking, but I booked a few ex-HKG F award flights on CX on the weekend for flights next week and there seemed to be plenty of availability for flights to LHR and CDG in F and SYD in J in August & September. The seats were be visible for booking online from a Bronze...

Invitation - Qantas 2012 Corporate Travel Show

+1 - I RSVPd today. Worth going if only for the prize draws - though this'll be my 6th year in a row and I haven't won anything yet...

    J class circle pacific fares

A QF ticketed ex-Australia DCIR29SA is currently $12,199 AUD plus taxes. I've not been to South America myself but regularly book ACIR22/26 fares for work travel. I find the best way is to use the OneWorld online planner to pick the flights you want to take, then call up QF and book over the...

Can you believe this [No XL PJs in F]

I'm not going to comment on the bigger issue, but if these travellers are anything like myself the PJs would have been left behind along the way. I usually travel with carry-on luggage only, and deliberately don't pack PJs knowing I'll pick up a set on my first international flight. I keep...

    Qantas Upgrade System Not Working

I had to put through some requests for a family member today - the system wasn't working during the day but appears to be functioning correctly now.

Seperate familites with babies on International flights?

+1. Actually a separate J cabin for families with children would be a great idea - it would have allowed my 2 yr old to get some sleep on QF7 the other day when the older blokes in 6AB decided that the middle of the flight when everyone was asleep was a good time to turn on all their overhead...

Travelling with a baby in Business Class

We're in the middle of a US / Europe trip with our 2.5yr old daughter at the moment, and we've found that the CARES harness we bought her is great both for safety as well as helping her understand when she needs to be seated during the flight. She's old enough to understand the seatbelt sign...
