Note: The official T&C have just changed again (without any notification given...)

As per 27th September:

To ensure that as many Cardmembers as possible could benefit from the offer we have amended the terms and conditions to better reflect the original intent of the offer.

The amended terms and conditions apply to all Cardmembers who enrolled in the offer from Saturday, 20 September.

The main change is that we have introduced a maximum of 10,000 bonus points per month.

Please allow 8 to 10 weeks for the bonus points to be credited to your account.

As of this evening, 29th September:

To ensure that as many Cardmembers as possible benefit from the offer, we have amended the terms and conditions to better reflect its original intent.

The amended terms and conditions apply to all Cardmembers who enrolled in the offer from Saturday, 20 September, as advised at the time of enrolment.

The main change is that we have introduced a maximum of 10,000 bonus points per month.

Please allow 8 to 10 weeks for the bonus points to be credited to your account.

Seriously, this is starting to become a joke, changes at the drop of the hat, no notification given... c'mon Amex, show some diligence and honesty in what you are doing, Look at how many people posted here on the 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th after being advised by Amex staff that the original T&C were still valid

AMEX CSR who told me that we are on the old T&Cs with unlimited bonus points is Adrian. He gave me a case number to confirm that I've been told that I'm on the unlimited T&Cs. Case number is xx_xx_xx_. (i purposely replaced case#)

Okay so now we have case numbers ???

Amex tell me they've deregistered people from the 5k/5t promo., and put them on a $1/1 point deal, yet they've wiped off my points for petrol, and pre-lunch drinks yesterday and lunch yesterday. Now that'll be litigated.

Yet another version of the promo, $1/1

What happened to the letters that AMEX said would be getting sent out last week ? It's now Monday of the following week and nothing

Re: Unlimited means Unlimited

I don't agree with you on this point. Amex would most likely receive the same amount of merchant fees from the 1 transaction @ $1200 as they would for the 1200 transactions @ $1.

I assume you therefore are unfamilair wit the meaning of the word "additional" which was in my post?

In particular as you reinforce my point by saying that they receive the same benefit.

Re: Unlimited means Unlimited

In many cases, people have fee-free amex cards and pay off their outstanding balances each month, hence not incurring any interest charges. So Amex keep rewarding these customers with free MR points just like they do with everybody else.
Are you unaware that Amex charges each business a fee to process your payment?

Your so called "free" points are paid through this (though for this particular promotion IMO they got their numbers wrong).

Naturally Amex has other income streams including some Cardmembers paying interest.

Checked with AMEX staff again.

She said the points DEFINATELY will NOT appear until 8 to 10 weeks.

Guess just have to wait :(

Was the other 10 reports from Amex CSA's not enough to satisfy you? Should this extra report satisfy me and require me not to call and confirm?

Totally, think you should call again.

They chang their words every half second.

And reckon they become more and more rude!!!

In all fairness though, although ethically it would not be right to do so... could you blame them, when people are ringing up to ask about things that have already been spelt out to them?

And reckon they become more and more rude!!!

I have lots of sympathy for the front line staff stuffed around due to the upper echelons of Amex and their screw-ups.

The behaviour shown by them is a classic case of misinformation from above, and the staff having to make things up to satisfy customers, or rely on outdated information.

This promo is well past a sham. It is a public relations nightmare for Amex. The thing is, do they really realise what is going on?

(Added numbers so that I can reply easier)

1. Yes, it's a joke and the further mis-information going around still amazes me, where is this letter in the mail. Having new T&C's on the website doesnt' cut it. Also one person has said that everyone enrolled will be receiving a phone call. I'll believe that when it happens!

2. Yep - Not much else can be said, if they decide to cap the pre 20th of September group, expect the main-stream medio to get a hold of it and even the ACCC or unfortunately Today Tonight

3. Probably not, so that's why everyone should keep ringing customer service in the hope that facts eventually come out

Merchants pay Amex to process the transactions to make Amex richer, the evil telco poorer, and Telstra customers happier .

Well, they changed their T&C without notice.

At least they should give everyone an confirmation by email or appears when you login your MR.

So everyone know what happend, there is no way to check whether you still enrol in the 5K/5T or they changed you to $1/1.

No written confirmation, have to wait for 8 - 10 weeks to find out whether you has been CAPPed for 10K/Month or not.

It's just unprofessional.

Well, they changed their T&C without notice.

Tip: This is what screenshots are great for, a paper trail of Amex's blunders and changes without due notification.

Monty Python would be proud...

I have only seen one post with this $1/1 point promo, if indeed this is the case, for the high end AMEX cards you would get.

$1/1.5 points - As per normal AND another $1/1 point ????

What will be the best way to make sure you are uncapped.

Voice Record during the phone call?

Ask for email confirmation?

Amex must be giving a few combination uppercuts to itself because the longer this drags on (imo) the more messier it appears.

Someone might have to call Sven Otke out of boxing retirement to give Amex that knockout punch - just like he did to Anthony "wanna-be" man Mundine a few years ago ;)

Ps. No bonus arriving despite standard points still accruing. Also can't spend much on Amex as currently in SIN for the past F1.

While I haven't received any more bonus points, I did get some 'accelerator' points since 26 Sept when I logged into my MR account on the plat cc. Instead of 1.5 points per $, I'm getting 2 per $.

I am also getting this. I was mystified as to why I'm getting it now, but was worried that it was replacing my MYREWARD promotion (I registered before 20th September). The customer service agent couldn't understand why I was on the "accelerator" promotion either, BUT THAT IT WAS NOT REPLACING MY MYREWARD PROMOTION (forgive the caps!) - she offered this information without me asking, and confirmed it when I asked her if I had heard it correctly.

So 2 MR points per dollar and 5K:5T. Time will tell if it is all honoured.

A friend tried joining up using MYREWARD

"We apologise, this Bonus offer has now ended. Keep an eye out for our forthcoming promotional bonuses and remember, you can register for the bonus as soon as you get our notification, there is no need to wait until the bonus starts. That way, you will automatically earn bonus points as soon as the promotion starts! "
