thanks to Dr.Ralph for the insight, this allowed me to gain some points I needed for a suites redemption.
If any other option gets discovered I too would like a pm, it always fun to play the game...until someone takes our bat and ball
Not surprised it was shut down. I told those who PM'd me about this that I thought it would happen at some stage. My advice was to go hard until that happened. I know I did.

Dang, thought it was only my account that got amex removed from this ability.

Another few days be ive have my redemption plans sorted... Argh what to do now!

Why cancel?

I believe after a certain period of inactivity they charge your account a fee, though I'm not sure how they would do this if you only ever deposited with an option that is no longer available ;)

Care to share a ballpark number of points you managed to earn? ;)

Enough for at least 5 return J fares to the US.

I'm aware of several other AFF members who have told me that they have put through a similar amount and one person who did around double this amount.

Manufactured spend opportunities like this are becoming very rare so I went as hard as I could on this one. I'll bank the points at this time and enjoy them later.

So the original T&Cs didn't require signing up via a dedicated link?

Finally after more than 10 weeks IG have coughed up the 10,000 QFF points and transferred them into my account.
Having to deal with an Indian based chat room that could see on their screens that I had complied with all the provisions required for the bonus (the right sign up link, the funds deposited, the trades, the QFF account number, etc) I was then reffered to IG's Australian helpdesk to contact them by email.

No reply for several days until I got an email survey from IG asking "How did we do?"

The short answer was the didn't do anything except send me a @%*^!* survey.:mad:

Another 2 emails to their so called "help" desk and eventually on the 19th of February they delivered on their side of the contract.

Needless to say I am closing my account with IG and will not be recommending their services to anyone in the future.

I doubt most people will not use them anymore since the AMEX funding option has been canned.

I too managed to get the bonus points but my experience was atroscious, in fact I wrote 2 complaints and both were pretty much ignored,

the signup process was the worst, the guy calls me as soon as he got my app, I call him back every two days for two weeks, and didnt get a reply, even emailed him,
I spoke to someone else who said they couldnt answer my questions or help me cos it wasnt their account

so after I had given up, I got a reply saying he had been on annual leave,

once he got back he needed some further info from me, once again, I called to ask him about it, no replies, no repleis to emails,

I lodged a complaint via email, to the official complaitns email,
and when I finally did get through to him , I asked if he got the email, he said no, and there is no way an email wouldnt be received,
so I fwded it 3 times to him personally, and the official line, including the origian lone, and they still denied gettting it,

these emails were ignored anyway, and his excuse was he only deals with phone calls and not emails

and if you want to discuss the matter I can come into the office

so I asked him how am I supposed to send him my drivers license details by phone, no answer

anyway, did my trades, and saw my second transction points of 25 be credited but not the 10,000 or the 1st transaction,

sent them an email, asking whats going on, eventually got a reply it will take up to 6 weeks,

however when I sent an email to close my account, they were too happy to close it within an hour

will not be recommedning them ever

but I got my bonus

Anyone can advise how long we need to wait before we can withdraw to bank account? I deposited through PayPal (AmEx) back in December. Yesterday I tried to withdraw but was advised it needs to go back to PayPal. Hence I'll lose the AmEx points and I'd still be charged the 1% PayPal fee. The consultant wouldn't tell me how long I need to wait. Basically I need to try again at some point in the future and hope that I can do it...

Can't answer that except to say after 3 months and a very significant amount deposited and withdrawn with IG I'm still not permitted to withdraw to my bank account only to paypal.

I'm not sure how you would loose your AMEX points though. When you withdraw to PayPal it goes to your PayPal account not your credit card. Once it's in your PayPal account transfer the money to your bank account at no cost.

Have you done it? My understanding is that it automatically goes to my credit card if I originally used credit card when paying it through PayPal.

Done it 100+ times. Read this thread for similar reports. Payment goes to your paypal account. You can then do what you want with it.

I have, and the proceeds went to my PayPal balance until I elected to deposit them to my bank account.
Wow I honestly didn’t know that.... okay looks like I can withdraw now! So you guys have been getting heaps of points doing deposits and withdrawals?

I'd encourage you once again to actually read the thread. If you did so you'd find out that AMEX was shut down as a payment method plus a whole lot of other interesting information.
