Our users have posted a total of 10000 articles

Congratulations everyone, we have achieved it...this is post 10,001

Methinks there is something dodgy with the post count.

The 10000th post should be this one:

http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/discus/viewtopic.php?p=10000#10000

The actual 10000th post according to this board is
http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/discus/viewtopic.php?p=10187#10187

Maybe it's something to do with sp*am postings and similar cancelled postings. Hmmm. Oh well. Congrats to all, and thank you for the assistance given when needed!!

Mal, perhaps the reason is the number of "cancelled" posts that admin has had to deal with...I recall there were ~ 50 posts by Reyla in the Fly Buys area all with the same message, so I notified Clifford and they were deleted.

Perhaps the actual counter isn't reversed when they are cancelled....

Either way, congratulations to everyone who has contributed to making this quite possibly one of the most useful, well structured (and civilised!) forums on the Internet!

:D

Congratulations on post 10000, now onward to 100,000 :)

This is probably correct. When a message is posted it is given a unique id. While this ordinarily would start at 1 there is no reason it needs to, and there is no reason that numbers have to be assigned in order. They just have to be unique. When messages are deleted, it would be too much trouble (and pointless) to renumber the existing messages.

This should be the 9,991th post. The prize should go to Clifford, who though up the idea of getting this board up and running. Does anybody remember the old version??

I have a bit of a vague memory of changing over to this board from the previous version of it sometime a few years back.

How could that happen  . Dave, you are unforgettable to me  . And a wonderful contributor here and elsewhere in the bowels of aviation-related boards and groups. It was you who introduced me to the world of FT (from aus.aviation all those years ago), and from there it was either you or LW who brought me over here to AFF.

Now I know who to blame for my vice   .

I agree NM, it was thadocta that introduced me from AFF to Flyertalk (the reverse to you). Now Mrs LW has somebody to blame  (because she likes you and Mrs NM, so we won't hang it on you) :P .

A big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Discussion Board and helped us achieve this significant milestone. The value of the collective wisdom on this Discussion Board is indeed priceless!

A special thank you to the regulars who have shared their knowledge so generously over the years – I won’t mention names as you all know the people I am referring to.

As a token of our collective appreciation I will be offering the top 5 posters a free Frequent Flyer Friend license. (I realise that many of you already have a license. If you do, feel free to offer your “prize” to anyone of your choosing).

Thanks again.

... and I have had the pleasure of meeting Lindsay Wilson, NM, Kiwi Flyer and serfty. What these guys don't know about flying, and FF points / miles is NOT worth knowing!!!

Watch out for serfty, another poster whom I have immense respect for his level of knowledge on OW - add to that Kiwi Flyer for *A matters. This list is not exhaustable.
... shucks guys, thanks for mentioning me in such esteemed company...

There are quite a few here here who's knowledge of travel worldwide far exceeds mine.

Meeting all those listed above and other frequent flyers thruoght this site (and FT) has been a terrific experience.

I only found out about this site 10 months ago when pointed to it by someone on the oz consumer site "notgoodenough.org" where I had spent a year or so posting, trying to assist with the problems of fellow travellers.

Have done 10 years as a Qantas elite of various levels doing MR's and otherwise optimising my travels to retain status. I did this without the assistance of any resource such as this site and learnt much on the way. I am happy to share any of this knowledge in a good natured and humorous vein.

Really, I did not know the number of people out there in oz who are active participants in the Frequest Flyer Community.

Myself, I have gained far more here on this site than I ever would have unassisted. I had become comfortable (if not satisfied) with my Gold status and the realisation that Platinum was realistically out of reach for this discount economy traveller, yet I now expect to achieve this level in about five weeks somewhere over the Great Australian Bight.

So thanks guys for mentioning me and I look forward meeting you soon ... maybe at a QP nearby ... :D

Now that the 10K posts are out of the way, any guesses on when Lindsay will make his 1000th post? Or if NM will overtake him before then?

Maybe we can collude and hit that milestone concurrently - with a HP in hand at the Qantas Club lounge, of course  . A good enough excuse for a celebration, I say.

Cheers

I'm just trying to get the imagery of NM and Lindsay dressed as Batman and Robin out of my head :). But indeed, a good team, and between them they seem to have pretty much all the bases covered.

It's a scary thought :!:

How about Wallace and Gromit :?:

Actually, an excellent idea, NM. Had a call today from IainF and a PM from ozmerish; so looks like one is on!! When are you free - PM me here or on FT.

I am pretty free most of the time at the moment. Monday nights are not good for me, but most other afternoon/evenings are ok. Or even lunch time is ok for me. My time is flexible.

The above expresses exactly my sentiments about this forum, especially with the efforts of
Lindsay Wilson, NM, serfty, thedocta, straitman and other frequent posters.

I am relatively new to this forum, but enjoy it considerably. Always new things to learn, and am definitely learning them everyday. Like MetroAir, I hope to oneday return the favour more frequently.

And by the way just think, it won't be too long before this forum starts to delve into the complexities of the Virgin Frequent Flyer program!! :D

Cheers
Daniel
