Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

And here its

16. In the event that a Prize is redeemed for Award travel, the winners should be aware that the number of Award flight seats available is limited and availability depends on the flight, date, season and destination and some flights may not have any Award seats available. The winners will be responsible for all applicable taxes, fees and carrier charges of Award travel or accommodation booked by redeeming their prize. Taxes, fees and carrier charges vary depending on departure points, routes, exchange rates and dates of travel, are subject to change without notice and are quoted at the time of booking. Award flights must be booked at least 24 hours before scheduled departure (and other advance booking requirements may apply). Award travel is subject to the fare rules and the Conditions of Carriage of the relevant carrier. Compliance with immigration, health or other government requirements is the responsibility of the winner.

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

what is interesting in the email from qantas is this line:

i think at least part of that statement is an outright lie.

for the bulk of members they are probably taking away benefits and points/SC earning ability. not increasing them.

....Änd there's a lot more to come"..... That's a bit of a worry :(

Is that even true? because all flights should have an Any Seat Award available!!

Ten million sounds so much better then nine million!

I think so too. ;)

And welcome, Red Roo to thread browsers. Poor old QF can't take a trick these days, eh?

The terms and conditions are clear, but thanks for your concern.

If the million points won't change your life, perhaps it will of someone you know. Good luck with your entry. :)

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

"Winning 1m QFF points would not change my life at all because I live in Perth and Qantas doesn't fly here anymore. I'd probably redeem for a new blender or something."

Alternately, the million points would allow me to fly to MEL or SYD to catch a QF flight to very few places.

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

I want to know which poor bugger has to read several million entries and make a decision

While an AFF member may very well be one of the winners, they may also be one of the judges! (see point 8 of the competition terms and conditions).

Well, you just need to know where to look for the other million.

New Zealand is where you'll find the other 1 million Qantas Points. :)

I'm in NZ and just got the e-mail from QFF. I note in the thread entries have to be 200 words max. NZ entries are only 50 words!!

I clicked on the 'entry' link in the media release and am denied access. Takes me to something like QAccess.

So why does the email refer to 9 Million???

In fact, we've just announced a competition today in partnership with News Corp Australia newspapers and websites where nine lucky winners will win 1 million Qantas Points each[SUP]*[/SUP]! To be in with a chance of winning you'll need to tell us how 1 million Qantas Points would change your life or the life of someone else.

I've entered. So bad luck to any other South Aussies. Managed it in around 70 words too! I will be in Dubai when I receive my call from Qantas. :p

i read point 8... seems proof reading is out the window again.

copied here for ease of reference:

8. Judging will take place between 26 June 2014 and 3 July 2014 at 10 Bourke Road, Mascot, Sydney NSW and will be conducted by the Promoter. Entries will be judged by a panel of judges picked from the Qantas Frequent Flyer member base and they will be judged based on being the most meaningful or impactful (making the biggest change in someone life).

I think I've worked out the total 'notional' bit of the prize thingy!

It's likely not far off the total out-of-pocket expense to the passenger in additional Qantas imposed fuel surcharges. :p
