It seems that my purchase from yesterday, on top of not being delivered via email yet, is also not charged to my card yet. Looking up the voucher PNR it seems still valid though...

QF Gift Vouchers

Hi, if I need to book flights worth say $129 and I buy a QF Gift Voucher for $100 and have to pay the difference of $29 will there be a credit card surcharge for the balance paid?

No surcharge in that scenario

Re: QF Gift Vouchers

Purchased a $100 voucher yesterday, used it to pay for a $129 flight(s) for OOL > SYD > MEL. Hoping Qantas has fixed their issues from last year and the points post without issue.

Intending on purchasing more vouchers in december but won't be redeeming them until later in the year

Purchased 2x$2000 vouchers in one booking for me and Dr Snowyflyer to go to The UK next year. Flights for us both was $3760 so expected to see a residual for $240 pop into my inbox within an hour like it does with all the others...no luck! Phoned QF premium a week later. They promised to sort the issue and have ticketing send me a new voucher by close of business, all I got was another copy of the original itinerary to LHR. Rather than call back I decided to use the online chat help that popped up when I was checking my booking. I gave a brief description to the online agent and the new voucher was in my QFF profile in less than 10 min. Great experience, I recommend it to anyone having the same issue.

Online chat is a great tip, because residual voucher problem will be common.

wow... that was quick.. Its been nearly 2 weeks for my residual voucher and I've yet to get it after calling twice. I'll give that a go!

Edit: and Wooooosh, voucher in my hands within less than 5 mins. Should have just done this if I knew instead of helplessly waiting like a fool!

I think we need a sticky for voucher tips and how to deal with certain problems. Given the 10 point lure is so strong, I hope not too many people will be left stranded when things go south.

SYD-LHR-FRA-SYD. How can this be done using vouchers? Not within the terms and conditions.

No amount of imagination is going to get the above on voucherS ...! I certainly don't appreciate the personal attack just because you can't move past your situation to others' situations. I am quite aware that some can be done; clearly your itineraries, but not everyone's, which is what I have been trying to say.

So you have one example. How substantial is that in all the people flying qantas everyday? Does it prevent the use of vouchers in the majority of cases. SYD-FRA-SYD?

Arm-SYD return SYD-ayq return. Not hard

Ok, now that the noise has quietened down, I can provide some great news on these gifts vouchers.

I received some feedback direct from QF recently, but wanted to wait until I had tested it out to confirm. medhead, I think you'll be particularly interested in this news.

They have (partially) fixed the problem with the remaining-value re-issued vouchers, which previously wouldn't let you manage the booking with MMB after you'd redeemed it, and you'd have to ring up and get some additional comments removed to allow MMB to function as normal.

Well, apparently, they've implemented a script which runs at a certain time of day to remove these comments on bookings made with these vouchers, which then allows you to use MMB.

I tested this yesterday, and as soon as I tried to use MMB for a booking (booked at 12pm), it failed as usual (even after the ticket was issued). When I went back about 10pm (QLD time), I could manage the booking. I think I remember my contact saying that the script runs daily on weekdays...?

So as long as you don't want to go in immediately to manage the booking, then it should all be sweet. If you still do need to manage it straight away, then you can still call up as per usual.

Glad to see that QF are being a bit more proactive in fixing these little issues that cause us pain and inconvenience, not to mention the additional unnecessary load on the call centre.

Usually have 10 or so active vouchers at any one time. Having to wait a day or 3 wouldn't be a problem.

My experience is that the vouchers issue like clockwork (up to 9 myself) however still waiting on residuals for 5 of them. I'm guessing I will have to call up :(

My first run-in with vouchers, used one to book MEL-ADL-DRW-MEL x 2. Voucher came through about 20mins after purchase. A quick, lazy +10k points. Sweet!

Regards,

BD

going to wait and purchase closer to Xmas - and then will wait until the points post before using them (still got $1000 to use by 24 Dec)

If you want to fly me anywhere, you're more than welcome! :p

Bought my first voucher this year the other day for flights to get my sister home. Figured I may as well double dip. She's also got some leftover credit now to be used towards a future flight for herself :)

Unfortunately, I'll likely be too poor by December to capitalise this year :(

Is anyone else having issues getting low value vouchers reissued after using them?

I've got a few $2/4 vouchers and apparently ticketing won't issue them.

I don't really care about the value but the principle of QF keeping it really grinds my gears. Not to mention the savings in CC fees that could be had with these ;)

As there is no minimum in the conditions, I should be entitled to the reissued vouchers.

Has anyone had success?

The issuers of normal plastic gift cards allegedly do very well from unused value and unused residual value on their gift cards. Perhaps QF is working on the same basis given the difficulty last year and again this year with the issuing of residual value vouchers. If you have to chase up small value residual vouchers you are more likely to give up because of the time and effort it takes to get them. Contractually QF must honour the unused value of vouchers within the validity period but I wonder how many people forget or just give up waiting and chasing. QF should have fixed this problem given the experience last year but where is the incentive, except to improve their customers' experience.

Yes and No. Discussed up thread. Read the T&Cs, note the difference between customer care vouchers and gift vouchers on residual value then go into bat forearmed with that information. An email to customer care might get the best result, but a phone call can't hurt.

But then I know nothing about vouchers.

Apparently? I can confirm my 5-6 bookings with this issue are not fixed.
