I have another 6mths before I am eligible for AMEX bonus pts - time drags does't it? Been having a bit fun too over last couple mths burning VA pts in J.

It's good offer but reading the T&Cs it seems if you've held any American Express issued cards within the last 18months, you are not eligible for the offer. This would mean if you held the American Express Ultimate (Qantas), then you won't be eligible for this Velocity deal.

Yes this is standard for Amex cards.

I needed a new AMEX card so this came at just the right time.

Applied on Monday with immediate approval. Received and activated card today. Will have the minimum $3000 spend covered within a week. The 100 SCs will also come in handy.

All too easy.

Can anyone confirm that holding or having recently held an Altitude Amex excludes you from this offer? Or any other Amex offer?

Holders of the Westpac co-brand Amex are eligible for a bonus points offer like this one. It's the same situation as with David Jones Amex cardholders - you're not considered to be an existing Amex card member and therefore don't need to comply with the usual 18-month exclusion period.

Is it ok to cancel the card once you've made the complimentary flight booking but before you've taken the flight?
