100,000 qantas or altitude points bonus with new westpac black card

I opened the online account without any major issues, didn't deposit any money in it, I received the signup bonus (40K about 2-3 months ago), and cancelled. I didn't pay an annual fee and the online account is still active, it has never had anything in it.

Is this no longer working for others?

edit; I applied for the online account on a weekend and it didn't come through until Monday. I applied for the CC on Monday PM, no problems

Anyone have an opinion on whether Altitude or QFF points are more usable (WP status) ?

My wife has a Westpac credit card. Can Altitude points be transferred between people ?

What are Westpac like when it comes to refunding annual fee (either entirely or prorata) when cancelling?

Good promo. However I have this card and only just cancelled in April this year, so I will skip this for now.

when banks say "eligible purchases" and exclude "government fees and any payments" - does this also include things like car rego? or does it specifically refer to ATO only?

Took a little while but finally got approval.

Dear MR Lawrage,

Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that your Credit Card application has been completed.

It almost exclusively applies to things like bank fees and charges. Car registration and the like is all fine. Australian Taxation Office payments are more unlikely than likely to be eligible but it's worth checking.

From memory Westpac black specifically allow points own on ATO if paid via Amex card.

You can, although it earns at half the rate (so 1.50 Altitude or I think 0.75 Qantas) per dollar, and you pay the Amex surcharge level of 1.45%. So marginally valuable if you can get better than $0.02 out of an airline point.

Also, the original query may have been whether that ATO spend counts as eligible for minimum to earn the bonus. To that, I'm not sure.

Easy solution to that requirement is to open one of their online savings accounts, park some cash then apply for the credit card a week later.

I did this a few months ago for the last WBC promotion then applied for the base altitude card (50k QFF bonus + comp 1st annual fee). Points posted with no annual fee without drama.

Interesting that the latest WBC customer promotion (50k QFF for platinum/black altitude + complementary 1st annual fee) specifically excludes only current or former (12Mts) Altitude platinum/black card holders from receiving 50k QFF (and comp annual fee). Nothing about the basic Altitude Qantas card...

Sounds like another 50k ripe for the taking.

Conditionally approved. Yay. just need to get the NAB and ANZ 75K bonuses now and that's my J class to Europe sorted.

Got declined this morning - will follow up with a phone call today to try and get it through.

Credit score on credit savy is 747. Have applied for the QF and VA AMEX cards earlier this year March, April which I still hold, planning to close both very soon. Maybe should've waited to close before I applied

First time I've been declined... :(

Hey yld200 my score is much lower than yours at the moment so may not solely be that. Might be best to follow up with them and get them to review it again.

Went into branch today and got one of them to update my application and resubmit to a senior analyst for review. Will see how it goes.

Got accepted today, awaiting follow-up letter/e-mail. There's not been any mention of bonus points anywhere along the process, except at the initial link.

I'm hoping it won't be a case of "Bonus points? What bonus points? Sorry, those went ages ago".

Mastercove has been conditionally approved after a couple of minutes for the 100k Qantas points.
