Contemplating getting this card and the NAB one for a combined total to 175K points for $500 annual fee and $3500 spend.
Add that to my current 40k velocity account and I guess I get a pretty cheap return ticket in J to the west coast USA.

The idea on the store gcs is good but it can be improved significantly...

Go via the Cashrewards site (free to sign up) then can purchase Wow gcs at currently a 5.25% discount.

Excellent tip, I'd already suggested that one - I think some rates came through, which they paid via PostBill pay - thanks though.

For anyone looking to keep track of their e-gift card balances, I highly recommend a free app called Key Ring - you can store the gift card number and pin and update the balance after every shop (no affiliation on my part to the app authors).

Buying e-Wish gift cards fron cashrewards is a fantastic idea. But I thought some might prefer Coles-Myer cards (example: me). While others might want a physical Wish gift card. I have also found that some woolworths doesn't allow to purchase gift cards or prepaid cards (Eftpos/Visa/Mastercard) with gift cards.YMMV.

I'm always on the hunt for discounted Coles group gift cards too, especially were AMEX is accepted without a surcharge! Unfortunately there aren't many good options. This thread I started a while ago has some ideas if you are interested. http://www.australianfrequentflyer....s-eg-flybuys/where-get-5-off-coles-73011.html

Physical Wish gift cards can be purchased a 5% off through things like the Entertainment book, but they do charge a postage fee these days I believe (not sure about cashrewards).

PS - if anyone knows of any other good sources of discounted Coles giftcards that accept AMEX, please post them in the attached thread - I'm sure other would be very interested (me included).

When you use CashRewards it simply sends you to the Woolworths' site itself. Once there you have the choice of EITHER egc or plastic cards (with a small fee). From memory the fee is equal to just over the saving on $100 gc. So it is up to you.

Personally - I've never had no problem with my last 6 egc purchases when converting some of them into other gcs (such as $10,000 in flightcentre gcs under the last deal to cover annual family airfares). However, I did not go and do 100 fc gcs in one go. Spread it out over half a dozen transactions or so.

If question asked, i just POLITELY smile and say, "Let's see if the system allows it" - and guess what it does...Even though T&Cs say otherwise.

REMINDER: Extra 0.25% discount offer closes tonight Aug 2nd (although may be extended) - Wow gcs at currently a 5.25% discount.

And the totally unexpected referral link so I won't have to keep feeding FlightCentre...

You can buy 5% off e-WISH via Entertainment Book too. Instant rebate rather than delayed from cashrewards (but 5% fewer purchasing points)

You can buy 4% discounted e-Coles card via AGL rewards but not with Amex

No, you are mistaken in this instance.

The Wow gcs or egcs are an INSTANT reduction in cost - I strongly believe in the time value of money - time in my pocket that is. Anything Wow can do..

Wow historically had NEGATIVE working capital - paid supplies up to 3 months after the goods had been sold.

So, purchase egcs on cc, use them before due date of cc and negative working capital at a consumer level. Shame the 17% Treasury Notes are no longer available!

(Brief [history] lesson - anyone can bid in the tender by the RBA for Treasury Notes even for a few thousand dollars worth. In 80s when bank accounts had low rates before CMTs got competitive - I'd bid for some T-Notes. Best rate was over 17% for 91 days).

Mea culpa. Missed your comment about directing to the WOW site

If he applied and was approved in July, you should receive your referral bonus within 24-48 hours.

Use mine and I promise there will be another trip report :D

You lucky lady!

Can't upload the picture - I tried (but URL only) - but the screenshot says Application Approved!

You're welcome, fellow AFF Wine Lover! Now what to spend those $2,000 on - he says diverting back to the Wine Lovers thread ...

My wife has just confessed she has been pooling my Velocity Points over the last 2 years and has reached Gold. I had no idea. Not much use to me when travelling for business, so I need to play catch up from Red and a measly 1,200 VPs plus the 100,000 hopefully from the credit card. I might refer my wife for another 60,000 if I get a referral link in time. Is that likely? I'll be hunting through the threads looking for ways to get that status up. BC, as you will know, I very rarely venture out of the Wine Lovers forum, so any tips from you or others on which threads to concentrate on would be gratefully received (by PM, I guessing to stay on topic here).

There's a very good chance you'll have your card some time next week, so could well happen...

Keep an eye out on your statement credits. Just yesterday this offer appeared, but I dont think people with Plat Velocity cards received it. My partner & I both got it on our Plat edge cards.. :)

I didn't get it on my Velocity Plat either, but did get it on my Edge and Charge.

Got my Velocity Plat, and it's a really good card. I can't add much more to what's already been said about it.

Just wanted to throw my referral link in for consideration by anyone still thinking of applying! I'll be super grateful!

I'm the proud new owner of the Platinum Velocity Card. Thanks to this AFF thread. Hopefully Blackcat20 got her 20,000 Velocity Points for me using her link.

The offer is still open for an incredible 100,000 Velocity Points if you apply by 15 August 2016, are approved and spend $2,000 in the first 3 months. If you use my referral link I get 20,000 Velocity Points:

Thank you in advance if somebody does return the favour.

I received my card, but there is no mention of the 100,000 points when I spend $2,000.

I had this card before, but I can't remember if any of the literature that arrived with the card mentioned the bonus points, or do they just appear when you make the minimum spend without any mention of them beforehand.
