Credit Card Offers 100k Velocity points offer with ANZ Platinum card (apply by 15/11/24)

Yup - done that. Mind you, getting set up was horribly old-fashioned - took over half an hour on the phone. Anyway, now hammering the card to get the points ASAP (my rates notice arrived today, so paid the first instalment through Sniip. Some internet, health insurance and other bills will sort the rest in a few days).

Not sure how quickly you’ll receive the bonus points?
The fine print says :

The redemption website is powered by Digital Glue Pty Ltd ABN 36 127 466 899. It may take up to 90 days from the eligible criteria being met to receive your SMS or email. You must redeem the Reward Code for the eligibility offers before the expiry date listed in the SMS or email, otherwise you will forfeit any entitlement to do so.

...
Yeah - aiming to redeem through Velocity or Krisflyer in early November, and hence the desire to meet the minimum spend quickly...

EDIT - Minimum spend now met so let's see how long the points take to post.

Applied Tuesday, they contacted me back to request confirmation of previous account closure then approved on Thursday. Maybe I have low standards but 2 day turnaround from application to approval is pretty good in my book

Card arrived today, so 1 week between application and arrival 😛

Well, that was quick! Email to redeem the bonus arrived five minutes ago, points were claimed three minutes ago and have swept into my account.

Hopefully, the other points will sweep out today as scheduled, and I'll be able to pay off the card and close it in the next day or two before the annual fee hits.

EDIT - did a manual redemption on the remaining points so they've hit too. Just got to check the test payment I sent via BPay hits and I'll pay off and close the card.

I guess you’re not concerned about the additional 30k VFF points for holding the card for 15 months ?

That’s several churns worth of points and two annual fees, so no, it’ll be closed ASAP.

EDIT account closure request in before the annual fee.
:)

@MELso how did you set up autosweep? Bit confused but haven't called ANZ yet

Can I please check when will the bonus points be posted after the spend limit met and subsequent statement generated. The latest statement issued does not state the points awarded based on transactions however hopeful that the bonus points land soon. Any comments/suggestions please before we right ANZ. Thanks

When your minimum eligible spend posts, about a day or two later you'll get an email inviting you to redeem 70K Velocity points (assuming you've met the minimum spend).

It's not like many other cards' processes where the points post through their usual systems, and it isn't tied to the issue of statements.

hey - for this card's fees it says there's an $94 annual fee plus a $55 Rewards Program Services fee. But I can't for the life of me see anywhere in the "account fees and charges" booklet where it says that the rewards fee is an annual (i.e. recurring) fee? Can anyone confirm?

Interesting - I haven't received that yet, despite having hit the minimum spend. Their terms say 90 days (from memory) so I was going to wait for that, but maybe I'll follow them up. Thanks!

We are also in the same situation ; on contacting the ANZ customer service , we have been notified that we are $800 short of meeting the spend criteria while we have clear record of meeting the spend criteria. I have logged a complaint with them ; will wait for few days before logging a case with AFCA.

Are there any government or quasi-government transactions in there (e.g. rates or registration)? (I paid my rates using the card but put them through Sniip to make sure the transaction counted...)

The answer is yes however I have a list of all non government transactions which add upto the spend criteria conditions unless they said util bills like water/electricity and myki recharges as government transactions.

Water bills can be government spend per their MCCs.

Merchant Category Codes of Retailers - OzBargain Wiki is worth a look...

I don't believe any of the utilities will be considered as government spend.

Will wait for the complaint response as no where in the terms and conditions is a list of merchants' provided , classified as government transactions.

I don't think we will hold this card for too long with the experience so far.

Looking at the definition of 'government charges', it's expansive.
‘Government Charge(s)’ includes, but is not limited to, payment for goods, services, charges and/or levies made to a local, state, or federal government or statutory authorities or related agencies (and includes Australian and overseas governments).

It's also worth noting that BPay and Billpay transactions are excluded too.

Anyhow, have a look at clause 7 of the T&Cs.
