Got an email from Krisflyer.

"KRISFLYER MILES TO BE FURTHER EXTENDED, AND WILL ONLY EXPIRE STARTING FROM APRIL 2022

You have KrisFlyer miles that will be expiring between July 2021 and March 2022.

In view of restricted travel opportunities globally, we will be extending the validity period of all expiring KrisFlyer miles. This means that there will not be any expiry of KrisFlyer miles until April 2022.

The extension of your expiring miles will be carried out in 6-months block. For example, KrisFlyer miles expiring on 31 July 2021 will first be extended for 6 months to 31 January 2022, and at the end of January 2022, the expiring miles will be further extended for another 6 months to 31 July 2022. If you have miles expiring on 31 January 2022, the miles will be extended to expire on 31 July 2022.

The extended validity of your expiring KrisFlyer miles will be reflected in your KrisFlyer account at the end of each respective month. Please click here for details.

You can also find more information on various ways you can utilise your KrisFlyer miles here

We hope the above measures will offer you more flexibility in utilising your miles before they expire.

Yours sincerely,
KrisFlyer Membership Services"

Great timing. Had about 400k SQ from a velocity transfer in Dec18. Gives a bit more of a buffer to chase a valuable reward, compared to limited destinations and the unknowns if booked in 2021.

Also received the email. 👍 Had miles expiring from September.

Good news. I would be pretty confident that there should be a good range of destinations by 2023 to travel to.

Is there an easy way to tell the expiry date? Or do you just have to manually look at each entry on your statement?

I only see 'you have no miles expiring in the next 6mo'

To the OP @powervideo thanks for posting a quick check of my email confirmed the same. I had booked flights last weekend for my wife and daughter to secure the expiring miles and after seeing your post and a quick call to SQ has resulted in the cancellation of said questionable flights and a full points refund without having to pay the SQ redeposit fee.

Great news. Had 250000 points expiring in June & was about to book anything just to keep them. Will now get vaccinated (hopefully soon) and plan a trip in 6 mths perhaps.

cheers

Great - but wish they’d just get rid of their stupid expiry policy all together, seriously
I feel it we get this, it will result in other negative enhancements

My original expiry is June 2022.. Let's see what happens

Its still way past time that KrisFlyer got onboard with moving away from the fixed 3 year til expiry.
I have 1000000 points and it took a fair while to accumulate them and really dont want to be losing them.

Probably the very reason why they will maintain the 3 year expiry. If there are a lot of people who only fly on award tickets, that's a big liability to carry on your books in difficult times with limited return.

I too have points expiring in June 2022 (enough for 2 x J returns to Europe). My concern is that will all these deferred points now expiring "around then" - what will be the likelihood of actually being able to redeem them on reasonably suitable flights (understanding the bookings can be through till May 2023 ish).

will have to get in early to redeem or pay advantage rates i fear

Yes will most likely not be easy to get one's preferred options.

I transfered all my Amex just before they halved the exchange rate and have around 75k expiring in April 2022 which I am worried about. I usually use SQ for a return from IST or trips to Indonesia. These miles would have been long spent on Y tickets if not for Covid.
