Yes,

Earn bonus Status Credits on all eligible Virgin Australia flights when you travel from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022^. You'll earn up to 100% bonus Status Credits in Economy and up to 45% bonus Status Credits in Business, regardless of when you booked^.

&

Do you have a bank of Velocity Points ready to use? All eligible Virgin Australia Reward Seats will earn you Status Credits for travel from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022#.
# ...
Economy Reward Seats will receive Status Credits at the Economy Lite Status Credit Level and Business Reward Seats will receive Status Credits at the Economy Choice Status Credit Level.

Interesting....my Plat status was only extended by 8 months not 12 months like others. "kpc, your Status will be extended. As we look towards more borders opening, we are excited to let you know that we will extend your Platinum Status membership for an additional 8 months upon your review date 31 October 2021*."
My partner got the same 8 month extension only but with the reward seat status credit earn and bonus business credits I think she will approve the extra cost to fly at the front of the plane.

That’s what I received and I have points to burn.

As linked by @serfty above, you actually need to complete travel by 31 March 2022. Ts & Cs:

^ Bonus Status Credits
Promotion is valid between 12:01am AEST 01 October 2021 to 11:59pm AEDT 31 March 2022 (inclusive) (Promotion Period). To be eligible for the Bonus Status Credits promotion you must complete travel on an Eligible Flight during the Promotion Period, and have linked a valid Velocity membership number to that Eligible Flight prior to commencing travel.

Re the above, when they say UP TO 100%, is there a clear definition of what UP TO means? Is it safe to assume that this is NOT a DSC in terms of Y travel?

I've got a lot of trips (hopefully) coming up in Dec ... and I was planning to cash in on this offer.

Side Note : VA website isn't returning flights on multi-city booking for a certain date period (Dec 23 - Jan 04)

There's a table here with the exact SC earn for each fare type (different depending on whether you booked before or after the recent changes to SC earn): Earn more Status Credits with Virgin Australia

Looks like any bookings since the new fare structure on 19/08 are getting the full 100% (except from Lite fares in Zone 2, which go from 7 to 15 instead of 14 for some reason). For the older fare structure (bookings prior to 19/08) it's only Freedom fares that get the full 100%. Getaway and Elevate are closer to 50%.

I've got a different question... I wonder how this will work in conjunction with the DSC offer that ran last month. I've got a flight booked under the offer for travel in Jan. Wondering if I'll get double the original SC offer, double the enhanced earn rate, or something else. I've read all the terms and can't find any mention of how this stacks (or doesn't) with previous offers. Anyone got any ideas?

Interesting, indeed. And @MattA, I may not be answering your question. But the question you made CERTAINLY made me think!

I'd think, from knowledge of previous multiple promotions from airlines, the "last" activated offer supersedes any previously activated offers. Going by that logic, your DSC should the "last" activated, BECAUSE, the current "bonus SC offer" is NOT "activated" by the customer. It's applied generically on all bookings made post a certain date

BUT, that also brings up the rationale that, regardless of "who" activated an offer - the current "bonus SC" offer is activated on the bookings made past a certain date AND if your DSC booking falls within the "certain date", then it is safe to assume that the current offer is activated on your booking, thereby, making the DSC superseded by the Bonus SC ..

Tricky, eh!

I'm sure this is one of those challenging queries ... I'm looking forward to see where this ends ...

Hmm. That's going to be annoying for me if that's how it works: in my case we're booked in Business Saver, so I'd be going from double SCs to a 45% bonus. DSCs on this particular booking would get me to Platinum. If it's instead "only" at the new enhanced SC earn rate, it won't quite be enough.

I understand and I'm not sure if that's how airline is going to do it. Better to call up VA and clarify. I mean, it wouldn't make sense if you go DOWN from DSC to 45% SC for the same price.

All I was saying is, I have been told a couple of times by airlines that the "last" activated offer supersedes. Better ring up VA right away and have this clarified. May be get it in an email or something?

Yeah. Might drop them an email.

It's not the end of the world either way. It wasn't planned as a status run or anything. Just normal family travel that happened to fall within the offer period (and in fact I already gamed the system slightly as we already had this trip booked prior to the offer, so I took advantage of the current "cancel to travel credit for free" deal to cancel and rebook during the DSC offer window).

And of course all of this this will be academic if QLD doesn't open its border to us COVID-infested Victorians by January...

Bummer. Have a trip next weekend that'll just miss this but have a trip in November that was booked during the DSC period, so will be interesting to see how many SC that ends up with.

Love that little SC bonus on rewards flights.

Anyone noticed that the "zones" for earning status credits on reward flights are not the same as the usual "zones" for earning on revenue flights. E.g. CBR-ADL is normally in Zone 1 for earning on revenue tickets, but is in Zone 2 for earning on reward seats.

I also wonder whether awards booked with partner airlines (e.g. KrisFlyer miles) would earn status credits, and whether reward flights would count as eligible VA sectors during this promo? The T&Cs don't say.

Yeah, I did notice that - they have gone for effectively 600 mile bands rather than 750.

Shades of QFF before Simpler&Fairer™ ...

It matches the reward zones when redeeming. Zone 1 is 0-600 for a reward ticket..

So my understanding is - this mean we need to burn fewer points when redeeming, but earn more points when spending $, which is a good thing, isn't it ?

When redeeming an Adelaide to Sydney, the ticket is in zone 2.

When you earn on a revenue Fare it is zone 1 for SC calcs. Points are earned on $$ so doesn't really affect that.

I was on phone to VA on Friday, after resolving an issue, I did ask about the DSC offer & the new bonus SC offer, the lady checked with someone & told me that yes I will get the DSC on my flights at the increased level on this recent offer. She specifically confirmed I will double dip, used those words.

MEL-OOL J so gone from 70SC per sector to 105SC, decent jump on DSC & 3 return pax on Family pooling. 420SC extra, instant WP status.
Now to be able to enter QLD by late Nov, may have to move the trip.
