Airfares to US to drop?

I think if I went to the US now, I would delete any social media apps and just say I don’t use them
There’s no obligation to to tell them what you’re using.

The current safe answer is "Truth Social", simples!

Thought I saw somewhere in this thread (ofc cant find it now) that ESTA applicants hv to list their SM use and ID's ? Cant remember having to do that last Aug/Sep but then there wasnt so much US politics to comment on ..

Yeah, I did mine a couple of weeks ago and had to list my SM handles. Who knows if they even check though

It was there last time I did it but I just gave it a good stiff ignoring.

All my accounts are private and I do list them, but I don't think they actually can bypass the security (I'm sure they could if they wanted to, but I don't think they do).

I think they're just looking for activists, not for people posting pics of champagne in First Class lounges.

If they are going as far as asking for SM handles etc then I will simply cross the U.S. off my list of countries to visit in the near future...

Whereas upon re-entry into Australia..they can take a full image of your phone without any recourse.

Am considering taking an alternative phone on my next USA Trip. It becomes hard though when so many of those "Authentication" and Multi-Factor Authentication require your account details and Phone number

Yes - but a very different vibe here in Australia - I landed in SYD yesterday morning and breezed through the e-gate, bag was on the belt (miracles do happen), and then looked at the queue for the green channel and opted for the red channel even though I had nothing to declare - seatbelt sign off to exiting the formalities was probably 7 minutes.

The vibe hasn't been any different upon landing in the US on any of my recent trips, including one a couple of weeks ago.

And ironically, on travel chat channels, Americans are aghast at our draconian electronic device inspection policies.

There's plenty of fodder available to sling acrimony in both directions.

As far as I know (last ESTA completed a year ago), answering those questions is optional.

Well my most recent trip was in February and had the occasion to travel from Miami on my way to JFK. I was knocked over at the baggage carousels when there was a long line to leave. Every bag and bag tag being checked by Airline reps. Due to theft! I was beside my self the whole area security sealed and only one way in or out via one person checking. You can imagine waiting for luggage then waiting for a whole plane full of people being checked one by one in front of you. Because your luggage was last out. Thank you AA.

I had that in Las Vegas in the late 90s, seemed to be the standard at that airport.
