The latest changes to the Velocity Frequent Flyer program took effect yesterday. Now, instead of earning 5 Velocity points per $1 spent on Virgin Australia flights, you'll earn 4 per $1 - unless you've earned at least one point on an eligible Velocity co-brand credit card in the past 12 months.

This article explains the changes and which credit cards are eligible to earn the additional base point per dollar on Virgin flights:

Referring to original article (reference 9 points per dollar with credit card) my reading is that Platinum members with Velocity earning credit card earn 4 base points + 1 additional base point for credit card and 100% bonus on the total of 5 BASE points = 10 points per dollar spent
