It's still a decent hedging option if you need to get your points over to SQ at a later point

That will only make sence if your CC can be converted to VA but not SQ points. eg. CBA or NAB. For Citi it doesn't make sense. If you don't need SQ points now then why not leave it as Citipoint and only transfer later when needed.

This is true, but the current bonus does mitigate the hit if you need to get your points over to SQ at a later point. For example, if you could not get the VA flight you wanted but there was availability on SQ.

But don't you still have the option at a later date to transfer to SQ directly if needed, without a transfer reduction ?

EDIT.. Unless of course you run into availability issues as mentioned. From my perspective if SQ was the intended destination I would not go through VA first.

It would only make sense that you already have a VA redemption in mind, and somehow while you are waiting for your VA points to be posted, the seat got taken. Otherwise, I agree, if your aim is to redeem SQ flight, why not transfer it directly to KF points at a later date when you know what you want?

I personally have both Altitude black and Citiprestige, but I didn't transfer any from these two accounts to VA during this promotion (of course I know westpac is not part of the promotion this time). Altitude reward and citireward are two of the most valuable currency so I won't waste it on VA just because of the 15% promotion. Rather, I transferred all my CBA points to VA this time, as I know there is no better use of CBA points, and it make sense to prospectively convert to VA during this promotion as it is as good as it gets (and I also redeemed a BNE-LAX J ticket for 79900! Double bonus!)

I did, in the past, transfer altitude points to VA during last promotion in Oct, but that was with a specific redemption in mind, Etihad J from GRU-BNE. I only transferred enough for the redemption.

Not all cards are created equal with regard to VA/SQ transfers. I am using the ANZ Black for my "fiscal" transactions as it is one of the few cards left that still earn on "fiscal" payments. Its transfer rates are
to VA 2250 ANZ points =1000 VA (apparently this is changing soon to 2000ANZ =1000VA)
to SQ 3000 ANZ point =1000 Kris

prior to the 15% bonus 3000 ANZ points =1333 VA = 987 Kris -so better to transfer direct to SQ

but with the 15% bonus 3000 ANZ =1533 VA =1135 Kris -so better to use the indiect route to kris

I must say ,however, I am intrigued by this EY availability on velocity as most of my SQ redemption travel is to Europe, and the lower taxes would be a nice bonus....I'll keep reading

Does anyone know if your family member can transfer from their CC (in their name) straight into your Velocity account? Or do the names have to match up? Thanks!

No...just family pool them across, works well. Even if you have to turn the tap on and off around the points earn time. Otherwise transfer in bulk every few months when you have enough.

Update: Citi initially advised us that this was a one off issue for transfers on 1 May. We are now aware that the issue has affected all transfers from Citi since the beginning of the bonus offer.

Apologies once again.

We are working with Citi on a fix and will advise further once it has been implemented. In the meantime, please rest assured that all eligible transfers from Citi during the offer period will receive the bonus.

Do you have an update?

I waited until 31 May but you gave no update (unless I've missed it somehow).

Then I transferred 240K points from Citi and received an email from Citi stating that 240k became 160k VFF points - no bonus.

Now some weeks later - no change in points allocated - no bonus 24K points.

What is happening?

Post #94 up thread reported that the bonus on transfer for Citi was working.

Did you do your transfer on 31st May? I would think you should be getting bonus points on that.

I am not sure #94 says it has worked but says he did a big transfer that will get a great bonus.

The VFF rep has not posted since the post I highlighted just above where they state they will 'advise further once implemented'.

They have not advised anything since that post.

And yes I was supposed to qualify for the 15% bonus both reading the T&Cs and also confirmed it with Citi prior to transfers being done. Trouble is no bonus seems to have come through.

I just checked the transfer I did for the Citibank points in my Citibank account Points Dashboard. It shows the date, so you should be able to claim the bonus points.

Heads up to everyone that this ends tomorrow.

Return to LA 79k points not too shabby.

If you have a specific redemption in mind, and u r just short of those "bonus" miles. You can push VA. I did it once and they gave me the bonus points to complete my booking. The points eventually arrived few months later, so I got a few thousand free miles. But if you just wanna stack up in your account, they will just linger as there is no urgency.

I have the same issue, only at the end of the month: I transferred points from citibank on Saturday 30th May, and have a reference number to prove it. However citibank recorded the transaction date as Monday 1st June. I waited through June and July to see if the 15% bonus would come through later but no luck.

Have tried explaining the issue over the phone to citibank but they simply cannot comprehend it. Can VFF or anyone advise how to proceed from here?
