Looks like ANZ are improving the ANZ Rewards/Velocity transfer rate:
We're making it easier to travel further with your ANZ Rewards card by decreasing the number of Rewards Points required to redeem Velocity Frequent Flyer Points and ANZ Travel Rewards.
https://anzrewards.com/public/info.aspx?name=changes

Changes take effect from mid-July, but no word on exactly what the new conversion rate will be. Not sure if I should transfer points with the 15% bonus now, or wait for this to come along.

It's a pity the redemption rate for CBA points is so miserable. Even 15% doesn't make much difference at 2.5 to 1. I've got well over 200 thousand points and want to ditch the card soon but not before I sweep them somewhere.

Before you ditch it, ask for a free upgrade to diamond for free or else you are going somewhere else. Once you are diamond, the transfer rate is much better, 2:1, about the same as all big 4.

My CBA Points went in overnight with bonus.

Just booked 5x Y & 1x J BNE-AUH (only 1x J available) and 6x J AUH-CDG for just before XMAS. Jumping on flights to NY next day to spend XMAS and NYE in Times Square then off to Whistler for some skiiing. I am using AA and QF points CDG-JFK-YVR-JFK and then paid return flights from JFK-BNE (we will be back to LA/NY in Sept 16).

A huge thank you to the people here for there advice. I wouldn't have looked otherwise and missed out on a massive opportunity.

6 J AUH-CDG? All on the same flight?

I had CBA cards when it was 2 CBA Award points to 1 Velocity on the platinum. Then ditched it when they changed the ratio of 2.5:1.
Also, I had no annual fee on them back then.

The platinum and diamond have the same transfer ratio.

currently 2.25 ANZ:1 VFF. Could be positive/better than the transfer rate now based on the change announcement? perhaps 2 ANZ: 1 VFF...

Trust me, diamond is 2:1, cuz I just transferred myself. Best part is, CBA still pay full rate for ATO, although capped at 1 million points per year. But that's should be enough for most people

Well the current rates effectively mean 1.33VA/$1 for ANZ Rewards Black card.

Would be great to see this card earn 1.5VA/$1 to match the other banks.

My CBA Diamond is easily my best card, except it is limited to 1million awards points = 500k Velocity or QFF. 3 Point/$ on everything on Amex including ATO. If it had a higher limit, I wouldn't have anything else.

1 Qantas Point =
Awards
2.5 CommBank Awards points^
Gold
2.5 CommBank Awards points^
Platinum
2 CommBank Awards points
Diamond
2 CommBank Awards points

Yep. On December 22 too. What are the odds :)

Next Day, December 23, 6x J CDG-LHR and 5xF 1xJ LHR to JFK. Land lunchtime Xmas eve to Spend Xmas Day and New Years in NYC.

The odds are very good. Seriously, I don't know why people whinge about VA's availability. VA/EY is easily 2 of the most generous airlines in releasing award space. SQ took few years before they release the suite, EY took like, 2 months?

Westpac black used to be my best card, but since they halved ATO earn I have lowered it's usefulness. CBA used to be really useless and sit on the shelf, now I use it a lot more after knowing the value of VA points. To top it off, I've got HSBC Qantas card and Citi prestige, that pretty much covered everything.

Well I transferred about a week ago. its currently 2.25:1 - I did 80,000 points and got 40,800
I recon the will change it to 2:1. this means you will be slightly better off doing it now.
however these bonuses generally come up at least once or generally twice a year so if u can wait till the next one then it will be better

I was one of those, but I am paying far more attention to it now. Status doesn't matter when you are flying F/J awards anyway. VA is great for getting out of Australia to somewhere where you can do something. However, QF, AA and BA make a very powerful combination and so I will concentrate on Status/Paid flights there.

Well this is too good to pass up so I did A Citi transfer to Velocity tonight and pulled a great bonus. I think this is my third or fourth bonus since I joined Velocity as a back up.

I was thinking along those lines...150,000 Citi = 100,000 SQ ( assuming the 1.5 citi reward = 1 SQ or VA point )

but 150,000 Citi = 115,000 VA ( under promo )

then 115,000 VA = 85,185 SQ

It's still a decent hedging option if you need to get your points over to SQ at a later point

Bout to transfer a large chunk of Citibank points to VA and then across to SQ

:)
convert to SQ the same rate as VA so you would actually be loosing out here...

Ild rather leave them there and then just transfer when needed to SQ. or VA when the next promo is on in 6 months time..
