The twice-yearly bonus points on transfers to Velocity Frequent Flyer is back for this month. Earn 15% bonus Velocity points by transferring from various credit card programs, hotel loyalty programs and Flybuys until the end of November.

CBA, Westpac and St George are notably absent from the list of participating banks.

I can't see any specific info about the annual cap for Flybuys transfers being waived during this promo (as it was last time).

Earn 15% bonus Velocity Points this month

Yeah, been waiting for this!

cheers

Edit: Hmmm. Not seeing anything on the Flybuy website about bonus points.

Have 130,000-odd gateway points in AMEX. Quite tempting to throw them across then in to KF though I've never looked in to redemptions with them before.

I might be missing something obvious, but is there any reason you wouldn't just transfer directly to KrisFlyer? You get a 15% bonus on the transfer to Velocity but then lose >15% when transferring to SQ.

Ugh never mind me, haven't had my morning coffee yet. I meant flybuys (into Velocity then to KF)....never looked at the SQ award charts. Probably should.

Ah OK, yes it definitely makes sense to transfer from Flybuys to Velocity and then on to KrisFlyer (while the rates are favourable). And yes, it's worth taking the time to study the KrisFlyer award chart. The Middle East/North Africa zone is particularly... interesting. ;)

Woot woot. Been waiting for this. Scored 70,000 points from Amex last month after calling to cancel a card. Side note: If you've been with them a while a call to say you're closing it and going to another bank can get you some nice retention offers.

Australia's highest-earning Velocity Frequent Flyer credit card: Offer expires: 21 Jan 2025
- Earn 60,000 bonus Velocity Points
- Get unlimited Virgin Australia Lounge access
- Enjoy a complimentary return Virgin Australia domestic flight each year

Flicked over all my Flybuys to Velocity just then! The Q now is do i flick all my Velocity points (~250K) to Krisflyer by 31.12 to beat the devaluation or keep them for VA domestic flights ?

I'm scared to do this with my Edge....what happens if they call my bluff?!?!? o_O

Excellent, thanks for the heads up, @Mattg

Been building up my Amex and FlyBuys points waiting for another offer. Don't think we're going to see another 40% bonus offer, so 15% is better than a poke in the eye with the burnt end of a stick. Will do it towards the end of the month, given the likelihood of further points earning opportunities.

seems CBA has been missing from the last 3 of these promos maybe more

St george is missing as well.. Does anyone know if this is "normal" for them not to be on the list or should I expect to see them next time?

I waited for CBA for 2 promos before just transferring with no bonus, it was worth 400k velocity points extra 15 percent would of been handy

Does anyone know if Commbank is going to ever have a similar promotion? I’ve been waiting very patiently.

I just did a tiny transfer from flybuys, and it was instantly in my Velocity Account, along with the "Flybuys 15% Bonus Points November 2018"

I've got ~250,000 flybuys points and the 15% bonus sounds nice but its a shame its limited to the 138,000 per year. Is it per calendar year or if I transfer now, I have to wait another year for the next lot? I might just hold off as I earn them pretty quickly and I do recall not too long ago there being a 20% bonus?

If you try transferring the lot does it actually stop you?

We discussed this tonight. With 2019 travel already booked, the plan is:
1. Transfer all (100L+) flybuys to velocity.
2. Before 30/12/18 transfer all velocity points to Krisflyer.
3. Flybuys, credit card and other velocity points earnings stay in velocity and used for domestic and BNE-LAX upgrades (FB and velocity points seem to amass quickly)
4. Use Amex rewards points for direct transfer to Krisflyer. Consider changing non-Amex cards (Visa/MC) to Krisflyer earning cards.
