Hi there.

Am flying the queen of the sky's to Syd. Currently have seat 4E but am tempted by 16A / B.

Does anyone know - is there space to get out of 16A if the person in 16B has fully reclined?

And does the cabin crew seats in front of 16B get in the way for either of those seats?
Thanks.

It is a while since I have travelled on a 747 but from memory the answers are yes and no.

I hope that is the case as I've picked these seats for a trip to SIN in January.

I'll let you know - moved to 16 B :)

For memory it is one of the best seats in the house. Plenty of front room so you'll have n concerns of th ones you raised. Intimate as 11K? No way......

WE look forward to your feedback and photo.

I'd actually really like the window seat but I'm always up and down 3-4 times during the flight so wouldn't want to disturb the person next to me.

You won’t be disturbing anybody getting up from 16A - it’s got plenty of room in front. Plus you get the window bins.
My favourite seat…

Seconded. Plenty of room to get in and out and the bin by the window is great.

Which is better, A or K side?

My preference is K. I prefer storage/iPad space on my right, and from my experience the crew have been located on the A side for take off and landing. (It may vary though so I'm only speaking from past experience.)

I agree with other posters that row 16 seats are easily the best in the house. I prefer the A side myself, as the seats on that side are further back due to the crew seats on the other side of the exit in front of you. This means you get a bit more window view which I prefer.

I think with the MkI skeybeds, the crew seats are in front of A and B and hence more room. However, I think with the MkII skybeds it might be the other way around.

16K on the Bangkok Golf Buggy (VH-OJH), flying as QF9 in December 2010. Mk1 Skybeds.

Mrs MatF and I scored 16 J/K as op-ups from Y+ for MEL-SIN (we then swapped to QF31 .. long story).

We were very happy :D

You're right - crew seats on the J/K side, although row 14 for the new config with MkII beds of course.

I recently had the pleasure of flying in 16K. But I did notice that the AB seats are set slightly further back (due the crew seats), giving 16A better access to the bins and associated ledge - minor point though.

Never flown a QF 747 with crew seats on the J/K side in row 16, the crew seats have been on the A/B side. Having said that I have only been in row sixteen 8 or nine times, so a small sample. I guess it depends on the config.

Sorry - my reply was a little unclear - I meant that on the "old" config row 16 is the exit row (as we know) with crew on the A/B side. For the new, 3-class Skybed MkII config row 14 is the exit row with crew on the J/K side.

When do the row 16 seats become available for allocation in the seat selection of the booking?
Or are they available anytime? - reason I ask is I'm flying J on 12 Aug on a 747 and have been able to allocate 16A but I notice 16B-D remain unallocated - if they're so good how come others haven't grabbed them? Is it because I am SG that I'm able to select them at this point?
