1h20 unprotected connection at KUL?

economics are seen to be favourable
On some aircraft there there is a way plan a flight to achieve a certain Cost index.

Maximise fuel efficiency
Minimise time in air - lower hourly cost of aircraft and crew in the air.

If I recall CI= cost of crew per unit time/cost of fuel. Perhaps there are other factors.

Apart from that fly faster to arrive on time is usually very difficult to achieve. Fly faster to save a few minutes?. Sure.

Helping a friend book a trip, and the go PER-SIN-KUL on one Sq ticket, in J.

They already have a short protected transit in SIN of only 50min and they have gone and booked air Asia for 1h20 after landing in KUL.

They have a 5yo and checked luggage. I’ve convinced them to book a backup ticket later but they seem to still think it will be fine.

I’d love the hive’s thoughts. From memory it can take 20 min just to get to immigration.
Good luck. Tell us how they went.

Begs the question: to what extent should friends help friends with their travel bookings?

In hindsight should this family have been better off with a travel agent?
My impression was that the OP's friend made the ill-advised AK booking as a decision on their own. There was no asking the OP, "can I do this," or, "is this a good idea," etc.

Now if the friend turned around and said to the OP, "why didn't you say so," or, "why didn't you stop me," or, "this is all your fault," then I'd question whether it's worth helping this friend again for any future travel advice. If you look back on it and chalk it up as learning experience - perhaps a small exchange of, "you were right, " and/or "told you so" - I think that's not worth throwing away a friendship over, nor should it preclude giving advice next time.
