I stayed a recent Saturday at Sofitel Wentworth Sydney. $245 IIRC.

I took up the freebie Accor Platinum offer last year (along with many others ;)) and according to the T&Cs it lasted 365 days. I checked my e-mails and as best I could see (my card just gave a mm/yyyy expiry date) my Plat status appeared to expire either the day of check-in, or the day of check-out. Impossible to tell exactly.

Anyway, checked my status online the morning of check in and it was still showing Platinum. The blurb says "you must ask for an upgrade at check in" to get one so I did this and got one. :) I had booked a bog standard room, and got an 'exec' or 'deluxe' room on 14th floor. It didn't appear anything special, but at check in I received a little box of chocolates and a drink voucher. Then, later on in the room I got water and a large (and tasty) fruit platter.

This was nice, and TBH, unexpected, given the 'giveaway' nature of Accor status.

My status still shows Platinum, maybe next month it will change.

PS. 3 prior stays at Novotels after taking up the Platinum freebie, had yielded 'upgrades' to high floors, but nothing else, except a free paper in one instance (which seems par for the course according to the website).

PPS. I had redeemed a voucher for points (2000 for 60USD) but was not able to use it to defray my prepaid rate. It has six months validity so will try and use it, but if I don't it may appear as a giveaway on this site (assuming it is transferable). :)
