I'd go up the night before just to avoid any risk of missing out!

I thought of that but unfortunately I couldn't fit it in, so QF400 it is! argghh I hate 4am wakeups. All in the name of frequent flyer and going to the long way.

Here is my routing for anyone that is interested.
MEL-SYD QF Y - 737
SYD-HKG QF Y - A380
HKG-KUL MH J - MH's new A380
KUL-SIN MH J - 737
SIN-MEL QF Y - A330

This will be spread over 4 days.

Is that a yoda-ism?

"NO! Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try."

I was trying to combine 2 sentences/phrases into one.

To garner more lounge time when you have luggage, connecting where possible is a logical way - although it's becoming more difficult with these earlier Asia flights.

I was generalising - no being specific for the OP.

Indeed, in the OP's specific case going up the night before could be seen as logical.
