Re: 2 cases of Asahi at Vintage Cellars and get a Samsonite Inova 55cm Spinner Suitc

I was interested, but I read elsewhere last night that the Asahi we get here is now brewed in China?

Not sure, but I thought it was brewed in Thailand previously.

I love this suitcase - Shame I cant be bothered going to get 2 cases of Asahi... I believe I got the firelight 55 spinner from the Le Club Accor promo anyway, and dont really want 2 cabin size hardcases... Great pickup though.

Asahi is Japanese, not Chinese. You can get imported Asahi - it's usually dearer and has a little sticker somewhere saying that it's imported. The locally brewed stuff (under licence, not just Asahi) has such printed on the label somewhere.

Seems like a good deal though.

Same as the Sapporo sold in Australia. Last time I looked on the can it was brewed in Thailand

I managed a tour of the Kirin Brewery in Yokohama Japan last week which was fantastic & it was great to sample all the Kirin varieties of freshly produced beer. :D

Yeah I know, however the Dan Murphy's website states that their imported product is brewed under licence in China: Asahi Super Dry | Dan Murphy's | Buy Wine, Champagne, Beer & Spirits Online

I would pay the extra for the genuine Japan brewed variety.
There is a difference!

Absolutely, I've had the brewed in Japan stuff before and it's a great beer. I'll be palming the Chinese stuff off to my old man I think..

Ok, I'm in :D Only 4 cartons left at my local store today.
Will find out how much Shrek likes Japanese beer when he gets back from CMB :)

Asahi is not, and has never been, brewed in Australia! The main source of Asahi for a number of years has been Thailand.

Interesting! I didn't know they now brewed it in China. Wonder if tastes different to the Thai brewed stuff we're used to?

It's hard to get though! Hardly ever see it. I've had it brewed in the UK on occasion too.

Oops! Hope it goes down well. ;)
I'm slightly pedantic about beer quality & origin... The 'brewed under licence" in every other country than where it is sold appear to be flourishing of late*
*(limited observations)

About the same left at New Farm and none at Spring Hill, the New Farm guy said he had been getting a lot of calls.

I guess I have a prejudice against spinners - I have seen too many apparently having a mind of their own.

Anyhoo, it's 2.7kg - using 40% of the standard carry on allowance - happy to leave the Asahi and the spinner to you goo folk.

A quick check of the Virgin website shows it's bigger than domestic carry on allows! I assume it's international carry on size.

Are there any cases that are lighter than that?
