I bought SWMBO a GA ticket for the MEL race this year.

I'm thinking of buying her a ticket in a stand for next year's race. Can anyone recommend a decent stand for viewing?

It certainly looked good. Got me reminiscing about 'the good ole days'.
Love this comment:
mutt: "Ban him for life, or at least next season. These unacceptable risks tarnish the reputation of what is an otherwise satisfactorily diluted spectacle. Vettel would have followed team orders and run him down. ...
:p

Yes, I liked it. It used to be commonplace - but then the cars were nowhere near as reliable in the past.

Crazy stuff to penalise him!

I think it was reciprocated from maybe last season (I think?) - I seem to remember Alonso's car breaking down and Webber gave Alonso a lift back to the pits?

It used to happen a lot, (hitchhiking after a race) and IMO is a great display of good sportsmanship, something which has been lacking a bit of late. I like how the press use "evasive action" when they mean the other cars simply gave them a bit of room...
Mates of mine were there, and love it, Singapore does look a great venue under lights.

Agree Alonso was a good sport, but it was not done safely.

Alonso stopped on a blind corner on the racing line and webber ignored marshalls to run across the track.

Depends on what she likes. I usually sit opposite the pits in FANGIO, because I like to watch more than just the cars.
Otherwise down near turn one is ok if you like to see the first lap carnage (JONES would be first choice, BRABHAM second), or the left right at the back of the circuit (the grandstand is called WAITE) where you can see the cars for a while and see them changing direction at speed.

I'll usually walk the circuit (as much as you can in MEL) during free practice/support races and usually stay put during quali and the race.

Map can be found here: http://www.grandprix.com.au/docs/2013-F1-circuit-map.pdf

Saw Rush tonight. Great film, and lots of 70's F1 racing. And a great soundtrack to boot.

Can't wait to see it, even though it's been widely criticised for being too "Hollywood".
Most of the F1 press I've read on it say the altercation between JH and the journo was a complete fabrication, painting him as a bit of a loony, but that the racing sequences are great.
Glad to hear a vote in favour of it.
