There is a contractual requirement for a driver to complete at least one lap. The same probably applies to a team.

I said a rare (no....really) rude word tonight. Got home from a barbecue ready to watch the F1, only to realise I'd totally &^%$#$-ed up the timing and the race was over. The first GP I've missed in 5 years. Oh well, replay here I come.

OK wow. I figured if there were regulations it would be about the money. I guess these days F1 does provide the transport for all the teams?

Onwards with the slot car bill boards!

FOM organises the airfreight charters but I think the teams still have to pay for it. Also I think the current commercial rights agreement, which expired last year, caps races at 20 per season. I'm not sure about the new one which has been dragging on for sometime, but if races have been negotiating lower fees then Bernie needs to add races to keep the revenue and profits up. At the end of the day Bernie will do what's right for Bernie and the teams can like it or lump it.

The recently negotiated Concorde agreement may have included more races.

News Flash!

Webber just gained a place on the start instead of losing one.

Yeh.. that was short live. F'n Sutil. Webber was doing well considering his 10 place love tap.

I believe there are massive fines for missing races, Bernie doesn't like anyone spoiling the show!

Reminds me of the V8 supercars. I'm sure that each season they "have" to drop 1 race. My memory eludes me though....

Yeh...... this says it all: The strangest race in Formula One history? - CNN.com

No longer a rule. All races count.

The rule was initially brought in to allow for one "clanger" of a race to keep the championship alive longer. It's so close now that rule isnt really needed.

Interesting that Horner said Webber was likely to get a podium before the puncture and fire.

Well he was in third position.

Yes - I was finding it difficult to keep track of relative pace, but if Webber had not been taken out, I think he could possibly have been in front of Hulkenberg (or had the pace to overtake him) but I am not so sure he would have caught up to Grosjean or Kimi in the Lotus cars..... would have been fun if he had though.

From memory he was on a two stop strategy which would have allowed him to leap frog.

Its a big day of Motorsport tomorrow, although its a PITA that there will be an overlap at 4 PM AEST with the last hour of Bathurst.

I will be enabling the picture-in-picture function of my TV for that.

Yeah, and for sad rev heads like me there is also a NASCAR race on tomorrow morning on FOXTEL that overlaps the early part of Bathurst as well and it's one of Ambrose's stronger tracks.

My wife thinks I'm a loser!

The F1 race is going to be a bit of a downer after that last 30 laps of Bathurst.
