Phwoar, look at 'em pile in
.
Here are my plans:
26 January: To the Ice in Ice - or Lunch Over Antarctica. Antarctic flight ex PER. Decided to throw caution to the wind and go in Ice Class . Booked about a year ago and mentioned it to a friend later in the year. He got no. 2 on the wait list and last week when final payments were due it appears that some pax had bailed, so he's aboard.
End of Jan: position to SYD to begin a DONE5 1 Feb-8 April: SYD-DFW-BZE-DFW-SJD-ORD-LAX-xJFK-SCL-xMAD-AMM-DOH-xLHR-DEL-xHKG-HND-SYD-[PER]. Want to see the Mayan ruins in Belize and Guatemala (aka Following in the Footsteps of
Rooflyer), a brief squizz at Cabo San Lucas, then to SCL the connect way
, meet
Rooflyer and friends and high-tail it by car to Puerto Montt for a Chilean fjord cruise, back in the car with RF and over the Andes to Argentina to drive northwards to just S of Mendoza and maybe, just maybe, share a red or two with RF in the process
, loop back to SCL and then over to Jordan for the classic sights, scope Doha for a couple of days, then over to DEL the connect way for a brief highlights of N India viewing before getting to Japan for the sakura and then home.
July: 4WD expedition along the Canning Stock Route. This is a classic in WA; maybe less well known in the east: a very remote (eg. fuel dumps required) 2000 km 4WD track in eastern WA (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canning_Stock_Route). Doing it in convoy over three weeks from S to N then spending another couple of weeks wending back home through the Pilbara.
Late September: To Ethiopia (PER-DXB-ADD redemptions already booked in EK F and J; just waiting for DXB-PER to open) for two weeks, then over to CAI for classic Egypt stuff, about a week in the UAE filling in the gap before a two week tour of Iran (to be joined by the indomitable
Rooflyer again
).
That should fill a few gaps in my miserable life
.
