Yet another Africa bound! We will be birding in Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia & Namibia with a couple days in DXB on the outbound and layover in DOH on the return. Yellow highlights in J, thankfully beat the VA tax increase on EY! We aren't going to the gorillas this time but I saw them back in 1997 at Bwindi, it was amazing! I was lucky and got the "easy" group and we found them in less than an hour. The other group had to trek for 8 hours to find their group! What are you guys doing about travel insurance? We usually use insure4less but Ethiopia is on the "reconsider your need to travel list" and Uganda is specifically excluded. This is the only company that covers my husband's pre-existing condidtion without drama or extra costs. JohnM, very jealous of your Canning Stock Route trip. Let me know if you see any Princess Parrots!

My ability to travel is hampered by a project I am managing and its timelines :(

What I am aiming towards is:
- July - Africa - aiming for Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar
- Late November to early Dec - Switzerland for a conference. I have to go a long way round due to using a credit so have to go via USA so will do a few days in NYC either side and a week in Finland or the like to see the Northern Lights.

Really wanted to get to Israel but that's not going to happen.

Likely to be a Middle East or Asia work trip in there too.

Four trips to NZ (two booked during the recent super cheap QF sale), Indonesia in March for DSC, HNL on the companion sale and Europe in August for my annual EK flights.

Some very interesting plans for 2017 from some members.

When checking my Qantas account today I saw this message.

No Qantas bookings are recorded against your Frequent Flyer membership.:shock:

The only trip I have booked is a return trip to Perth in March 2017 on Virgin, and I only have that flight booking as I changed an existing booking.

The biggest trip I have in the planning is the US in early June, 6 days in San Francisco with a week in New York City and a day or 2 in Dallas before heading home.

Other trips that will be firmed up closer to the time.
Burra South Australia in April.
Newcastle NSW in May
Darwin NT in July
Dubbo NSW in October.

I am sure I make one or two return trips to Melbourne and Coffs Harbour.

I am also looking at a visit to Lady Elliot Island, but its more on a wish list at the moment.

A busy year coming up from the base in Melbourne. It starts with 8 days in Sydney for the Latin Summer School at Sydney University in January. I bet I am the only one going to a Latin course next year. (or any year for that matter :) .

This will be followed by two weeks at the Adelaide Festival and Fringe Festival in early March. Next is three weeks in Cairns in late May and early June to escape Melbourne's winter. Next will be a late June trip to Hong Kong which will be followed by a month in England and Scotland, 10 days in Copenhagen and Stockholm, 4 weeks on Silversea's Silver Whisper sailing from Stockholm to Montreal via the Baltic with stops in St Petersburg, Germany, Finland, Latvia the Netherlands, southern England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Iceland, Greenland and Maritime Canada. After Montreal it will be a few days in Ottawa and Toronto, 5 days at the Theatre festival in Stratford Ontario, back to Europe for a week in Paris and home in mid-October via Hong Kong again. November and December will see a trip to Sydney for a 50th wedding anniversary and trips to Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth for the Ashes Tests. We'll also have the best part of a week sampling Margaret River wines before the Perth Test match. So an exciting year ahead. Most things are booked so I am definitely an cough retentive so far as planning goes! 2018 is already well under way.
