My understanding is they aren't locked into any tire, as the tires they qualified on in Q2 were wet/inters. Only if their best time in Q2 is on slicks, confirms them into the race on that compound.

That was my understanding too, let's hope it's a good race!

Indeed, had a look after I posted and looks like warm weather today. Will they have to start on the wets/inters or can they swap under current rules to soft/ultrasoft tyres?
My understanding is that the “same tyres as Q3” rule does not apply if wets were used and the race is dry ( and visa versa)

Free tyre choice.

I'd expect Ferrari to start on U/S to try and pass the Mercs, and Merc will probably do the same to respond.

Rest will possibly be 50/50. I'd expect RIC and possibly VER to also start on U/S to try and get track position quickly.

The heat may mean two stop becomes normal, and wouldn't be surprised to see a few engines expire in the heat

Good race, RIC with all the right moves and maximised his points haul. Plus confirmed his worth - will give Ferrari something to think about......

Can't see Ferrari doing it l, particularly with recent structure change.
I'd say Ferrari most likely to give RAI another year with LEC pencilled in for 2020.

RICs only negotiation is how much less than Max and the McLaren offer does he accept to stay at RB.

The replay tonight will be mostly RIC overtakes...
He also set the three fastest laps during the race.

I hope he’s being paid a lot of money for this as I don’t see it as a positive move for his championship results.

Had a lovely time at Silverstone recently as a guest of the Mercedes AMG team, Amongst other benefits, had a tour of the garage, pit lane walk ,photos with the cars, time in the garage during the race and great food and drinks.

Wow RIC to Renault. My first reaction is Nooooooooooooooooooooo but I guess his options were limited. Staying at Red Bull with Honda is risky and driving for a works team has to have it's upsides. Time will tell.

Sainz could go back, but Sainz and Verstappen reportedly don't get on, and there is apparently some form of veto.
Sainz won the qualifying battle against Verstappen although VER got more points.

Current talk seems to be Sainz to Maclaren and Gasly to RBR

Well I got that bit correct I suspect

New Force India losing all points is a bit strange.

Qualifying last night was a little messed up.

I should really get over to one of the mainland Europe GP's one day, they're much cheaper than going to Silverstone and that includes flights and accommodation too!
