Who is rupert
Hey! He's my puppet-master. Personally tells me everything I type.
True.
Who is rupert
More charm from the Turnbull family. (The Oz, probably paywalled).
The father:

The son ... and GetUp campaigner ...
What many on here are saying is that we are meeting our international targets, and for anything substantive to happen requires the big emitters to respond. Nothing Australia can do right now will make a difference and there is no way big emitters will do anything because we tell them. We make all the virtue laced signals we like, but unless the the rest of the world are prepared to meet there targets then we are only committing economic suicide by going after crazy 45% and greater targets on our own.Sorry - are you saying climate change is BS? Or having a climate change policy is BS? Or that everything to the left of Rupert is BS? [ Option D - all of the above, is also available.
Growing the nation. Do you mean population or GDP or productivity?
I understood what you were saying.1st point: Its not all about Climate Change ... only the Greens have that single mind set.
2nd: Jobs a non issue? Says a lot. Yes, renewables will provide jobs, but only with massive taxpayer subsidies for consumers and the developers. There are probably more jobs per MW developed with renewables (solar and wind at least), because the projects are individually smaller. Reckon that doesn't add to the cost per MW? But I am also thinking about Adani in Qld. Thousand+ jobs. Right there.
3rd: The scheme where you pay offshore companies to produce 'carbon offsets' so Australia can 'reduce its net emissions'. Al Gore will tell you all about it - the world's first 'Climate Billionaire'.
Is it that they don't believe in climate change, or they do believe in it ..... but just don't care?
Those pesky polls (conspiracy theory alert) had supposedly identified that even Coalition voters were getting impatient with the lack of policy action on climate change. Labor were fooled into believing that this would translate into some conservative voters pulling their heads out and crossing over.
Unfortunately this was the one true example of Virtue Signalling that I am aware of. The coalition voters may have finally realised that Andrew Bolt, Ray Hadley, Miranda Devine, etc are not actually climate scientists, but putting the interests of future generations before their own wealth? Come on.
Ditto the "hundreds of jobs." The renewable energy sector employs thousands, but that is a non-issue
"Sending Billions overseas" Would you care to elaborate how that will work

Given a choice between Moody's "logic" and Option D.. it's a no brainer...

Who is the Murdoch press do they run the ABCSo you don't believe in climate change, climate change policy, or anything that the Murdoch press didn't tell you.
Why am I not surprised.
No, that was the Shorten press!Who is the Murdoch press do they run the ABC
Oh yeh the guy who thought he could sell ice to an eskimo. The 8 mins to charge an electric car guy.No, that was the Shorten press!
I would rather cheap abundant baseload creating jobs in a multitude of industries rather than jobs in the renewable industry.
We import all our renewable assets. If we stop out coal and gas exports what are we going to export?. Or are we going to increase capital inflows to pay for imports such as renewable assets and carbon credits. Capital inflows resulting in selling domestic assets?
No, that was the Shorten press!
Oh yeh the guy who thought he could sell ice to an eskimo. The 8 mins to charge an electric car guy.
Did he tell you who was going to win you the electionHey! He's my puppet-master. Personally tells me everything I type.
True.
Have to ask. There appear to be a lot of posters in this thread who aren't interested in Australia taking action on Climate Change. I'm curious though - what would it take for you to decide we need to take urgent action? A 2°C rise in average temperatures in Australia? A 4°C rise? A 10°C rise? A don't bother with making claims about what's happened or not already. What would it take to convince you?
Are you not concerned that the cost of insurance relating to climate related risks might cause enormous disruption to the economy and our lives? Not concerned that you're leaving the planet in worse shape for your children and grandchildren than you inherited it?
ps. A target of a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 was passed under the Conservative Government in the UK. Where's the evidence that aggressive emission reduction policies are causing trouble anywhere? The reductions are going to happen eventually, but we're racing the planet vs deniers....
Missed that story too - what ice and which eskimos? Ohhhh - you are just talking in vacuous slogans, aren't you? My mistake.
How long does it take to charge a car now?
