Yowsers! I wonder how many first home owners - not on AFF - can say that!

There are some awesome trips planned in this thread!
Just booked my flights for 2019 to Brazil. We're starting in Sao Paulo for a wedding and to visit my partner's family, followed by the Amazon at the Anavilhanas lodge which looks awesome!
We're still deciding on the next part of the trip, does anyone have any good suggestions for other cool places to visit in Brazil?

Yes, this one from Exodus - The Five Stans of the Silk Road . I like it because unlike many tours of the Stans, there is no domestic flight in the middle. Although the airlines of the region are improving, that's still a bit far for me.
I did Iran with Exodus last year, and it was good; JohnM has done lots of tours with them and is also happy with them. they are an English company, so much of their web info are for Britons, but they have an office in Melbourne.
There will be TR next year
Many great places in Brazil, high on my list Sao Luis and nearby the Lencois De Marahanese NP. Recife also. Rio is a must, but get away from Ipanema and Copacabana. Barrios like Sta. Teresa and Gavea and Lapa. For decadent places, go to Buzios a few hours drive from Rio.
I know nothing useful about Brazil for you but I really enjoyed this TR Race around Brasil - two mad weeks in search of good food, architecture and wildlife by bigpetebrown with some fantastic photos. There seemed to be some really interesting destinations in the report.
