If memory serves me, there have now been two races this season with late race drama....hopefully the softer set of tyres available for the 70th Anniversary GP has more of the same.

Absolutely. Even if you assume it's only a couple of places a race, that could easily be 50-100 points.

Fairly boring race, but good to see VER come out with the win easily. Previous week was quite interesting...... he was unlucky not to win 2 weeks straight.

Agree.....followed it the previous night and could not be bothered to post up anything lol Tyres ruled the day and the race was decided at Q2 with tyre choice. As an outsider looking in I don’t know what they were thinking considering the tyre issue at least two teams had the previous race.

Whilst on face value the race seemed boring, it threw up a number of interesting tidbits for mine.

BOT - clearly not happy with how it all transpired - got the short shift on the Mercedes strategy call and tbh once Ham couldn’t catch VER they should have kept them in position (is what would have happened the other way around). BOT in a no-win situation at MB - he stays because it’s the best car (perpetual #2), but unless Hamilton has a major injury/issue it’s hard to see him ever challenging for the title in a team totally geared around HAM.
VET - hard to see him seeing the season out at this rate - his performance not good, not engaging well with the team (bordering on openly antagonistic). Will be interesting to follow
VER - at least a win from him and the prospect that RBR have got on top of their car gives some hope we see competition this season
RIC- had a stinker. Let’s hope he bounces back. At least the Renault is showing some pace
HULK - I think his “vibration” was convenient - allowed Stroll back in front for same team points result - better for Stroll in the driver’s championship......
ALB - ongoing pressure but the team seem to be protecting him despite the noise and i think he’s showed enough to stay for 2021 - noting if he hadn’t collided (Read: didn’t get left enough room) in the opening race in Austria He’d potentially had a race win. THe critics are harsh (being English doesn’t help that As expectations are high and the benchmark he’s against in VER is high too....) but i think he’s doing enough with plenty of upside still.

LEC and OCO got a bit lucky on strategy - but then you make your own luck i guess.

Its incredible how far off the pace Alfa Romeo are with no sign of improvement.

So whilst the “on-track” action was a bit soft, there’s some fascinating scenarios playing out And will continue to play out in coming weeks/months.

After a pretty boring race last week (haha no comments at all), tonight’s F1 race from Belgium has high hopes for Ricciardo with a second row grid position (4th). Can Ricciardo (or Ocon - third row start) get Renault’s first podium since returning as a works team?

Looking like an overcast but dry race coming up lets see how long Daniel can stay at the pointy end.

They won the gamble then, Renault went minimal downforce to get more speed which would harm them in the wet.

Few more laps at the end would have been good for Dan.
Still 13 points

Will be interesting to see if they promote, draft someone in, or whether we have a total outsider running the team

Yes. F1 is just so incredibly boring these days. Is it just me? Can’t really be bothered to watch it.

As exciting as Mid Summer Murders on repeat.

The Renault renaming is a strange one.
I wonder whether it's a precursor to them not building their own engine.

Think the middle of the pack race will be interesting as usual tonight.
