2021 Travel Plans

We've just booked to spend the first week of January in Alexandra Headlands.
In April, we've got tickets to Hamilton in Sydney.
In June, we've got tickets to Harry Potter in Melbourne. Thinking about changing the date of those tickets so that we can go to the Film Festival in Winton in June/July.

We've put off the Tour de France trip from this year to 2022 now.
Hmm, well, due to fly to MEL in 3.5 weeks for Harry Potter. My BFF is coming with us, and is ready to pull the pin (she's immune compromised, plus starting a new job, and frankly no theatre show is worth two weeks' hotel quarantine!!). I'm currently waiting until late next week to make the decision for us, but if there's border closures or quarantines going on between QLD and Vic, we won't be going.

Winton motels on Elderslie St are booked out for the Film Festival, so that won't be a back up plan. :( Maybe a long weekend at Rainbow Beach.

Have added a trip to SYD in Sept for a show to surprise Mr Katie for his bday. Mr Katie and I are also having a jaunt to AKL for a weekend. Because, well, bubbles are open!

10 days before check-in for our flight to HBA - first flight since September 2019.

Will do that about 7 days ahead, so early next week. 👮‍♂️

Wooly hat, gloves, arctic-level coat all good to go! Brrr 🥶🥶🥶

What I am really looking forward to is the HBA QF lounge when we fly back home 😁 😁 😁
Well the Tas trip went well. Enjoyed brekkie in SYD QF J lounge, and good flight down. Border staff in HBA quite reasonable, although it is a long walk from the plane to the far end of the terminal. Enjoyed my visit to the HBA QF lounge where the presence of a glass of water was enough to drop the mask.

Well that is it for 2021, earliest I hope to fly again (overseas) will be March 2022 (yes i know, will have to involve a major move from Feds).

Just booked and paid for Classic Fighters Omaka 2021 in Blenheim NZ early September. Can't wait.

Hello, I am new here and accidentally found this thread. I would also like to visit Europe, but it all depends on the situation. :)
Welcome to posting on AFF @PoppyBa. There are some really smart people on here with lots of knowledge to share.

I'd like to go to the UAE to see my son who lives there, but not expecting that at all for 2021, more's the pity.

Well I was considering a driving trip to Sydney with stops in Port Stephens and Orange to see friends.Up in smoke now.

Things might change but I think our Kimberly overland from Broome to Darwin in less than four weeks is looking less likely :(

Have completed and have planned some domestic work travel intra and inter state, won't even look at international until 2022.

I think there is a better than good chance I am done with international travel in 2021, well it never really started. Over the weekend we pushed the cancel button on our last attempt to get to NZ in Dec. Looking at my records 2021 will be the first time since 2004 that I have not travelled international (often more than once), I am also not sure if any other 2021 domestic travel is on the radar.

Well this great event is being held in August.I was desperate to attend but mrsdrron says no way. 😞
Did you mean to insert a link or do I need to read back a few posts. What is the great event? last time we bumped into each other was the start of your trip to PEI which was followed. I had adjusted some of our plans and the Covid put an end to that.

Sorry my computer is doing some funny things and I missed that the link didn't appear so have added it.
Computer is 7 years old so probably coming up for replacement.

Make sure you set it on fire out in the backyard once you get your new one ;)

Well no travel happening here :(
Still , yes still, need to do my platinum flight to maintain status.
Really hoping 2022 has some travel in it

Notes:
  1. I am presently in negotiation with Air Canada to rebook the trip to Canada since they have now kept rebooking my flights due to them cancelling their service out of SYD and putting me on an illegal flight back (YYZ > NRT > HND > SYD) since going from NRT to HND requires clearing immigration and emigration which is presently illegal for those who have been to Canada in the past 14 days. So far they have told me that I need to keep the same routing as before finding seats with I (Business class) availability to make the change. Unsure if I'll be able to recover this itinerary or have to cancel it out for a refund of points/fees. Obviously would prefer keeping what I've got since 160,000 Aeroplan miles for an all J itinerary from SYD to Canada roundtrip is a bargain!
  2. The open UA coupon comes from a flight I booked in November 2019 (LHR > SYD on UA in Y for ~$1,100 CAD return). I took the outbound leg to move to SYD but could not take the return due to you know what. Upon speaking with the UA agent, I was told that I just need to call them up when I want to rebook and they'll rebook me on whatever UA flight can take me from SYD to LHR with availability in economy. My plan is to use that coupon in March 2022 (supposing the INTL borders reopen by then) to attend a conference.
  3. All future travel is subject to ongoing restrictions that will change from time to time. Therefore, I have zero regrets on the trips I have been able to make this year :p
Your Trusty,
