Well it looks like our March trip is no more. Mrsdrron is not happy going to the UK.
Watch out weeds here I come.
I'll let you know what its like (hopefully). Still planning to fly out 1st week of March on QF1.

Well we've had double digits temperatures for the past few days and looks to be continuing going forward. It's sunny today...... so summer will come and go pretty quickly.

Fed up waiting to travel. Retired to travel then one month later covid hit 🤬
Same. I retired at 52 to travel. Plan was to go back to Sth Africa to do the wineries, head up to the UK to see family, then a few weeks on the NE Coast of the US before coming home via Sth America.
2 years later the furthest I've been is Beechworth (I live in MEL).

Pretty much spend a few hours every day trying to put together a decent (same as you, 8 weeks) trip. but can't nail it. Might have to reset expectations.

Get something under your belt and press back big one to 2023. Go to South Africa next week for a two weeks, or go to UK for two weeks in May. Somethings better than nothing.

World Cup in Qatar November with a few little ME side trips to investigate. Work is still too hectic so doubtful we get to to sneak in our usual Asia trips so would look at possibly taking 8 weeks off in Oct/Nov and combing a couple of trips. A week or so in Vietnam then a couple of weeks in Scotland and perhaps catch some rellies before heading to Qatar.
Some fantastic J deals to Europe ex Asia currently so time to start planning. No doubt we will change our minds half a dozen times but would like the majority booked and paid by May

I've been thinking about the World Cup (should be on leave in November) but I fear that Qatar being the host (along with COVID) will make it less of a party and way more stress than it's worth.

Yeah, that’s why we have pretty much decided to use Muscat/Abu Dhabi or Dubai as a base and just FIFO to Qatar on game days.
Accomodation is incredibly cheap for what you get in that part of the world

So for me USA in August is becoming a real possibility.

Prob be just here to LAX and back. Now let's see if the stars align.

Current Plans are:
  • I went to Melbourne in January
  • 5 nights in Fiji in April
  • long weekend in Adelaide in June
  • month long OW Reward trip in J to UK (Scotland & England) + USA (NY and Chicago) in August
I'm hoping more options to open up for a Xmas/New Years trip when office is closed. I have travel pass with DSC that I would like to use to book this trip, just haven't seen any compelling to book yet. Hawaii is a possibility if offers improve, or somewhere else in pacific.

OK, here's my plans for now
* Cheeky one nighter in MEL next weekend with the Teen, Mr Katie staying home with the puppy.
* I'm off to Minneapolis and Rosemont (Chicago, but within a whisper of ORD rather than the lake) for conferences in May
* Winton for the Vision Splendid Film Festival in June/July

That's it for now. Mr Katie would like to go to ADL for Tasting Australia, but that will be subject to puppy sitting and it's not on during school hols for us.
The Teen has suggested Germany for our first trip OS post-pandemic. Getting hard with them in high school now, and with a key family member's birthday on 31 Dec. We're trying to stay home for that birthday more now (have been away one, home one for the past few years) as there may only be a handful more of the birthdays to share. We may try a three weeker in Jan or similar, but I guess that'll be 2023 anyway!

Got my ticket this week to go to MEL through AUK from LAX in April to see my best friend in person for the first time since January 2020. Fingers crossed no major changes in the next two months. Never been to New Zealand and was sorely disappointed that they won't let me in yet so I'll be spending some quality time in their international transit lounge. Any tips appreciated!

Enjoy the trip ;)-->A map from Great Circle Mapper

If you get to AKL will you have access to airline lounge? Not a lot to at AKL other than look out the windows. If lucky you may see some aircraft.

HAHAHA yeah - not flying up to Alaska! Thanks for the correction. Now I'm triple checking my ticket!

No lounge access for me - from what I understand I need to stay in the transit area. I'll be happy if there are at least windows - I can't find any photos online!
