2024 Paris Olympics

Just watched the 4 x 100m mixed medley. Came in on the tail end of the third swimmer. Australia was about 6th, easily 20m behind the leader - almost 1/2 the pool length.

Kyle Chalmers for Oz swimming the final freestyle leg. Only male in the 4th leg. Won by metres :)

Well, they had hours of the world’s most boring game on this evening, Le Golf.
Nice to see some “proper” athletics starting… Australian women in high jump are very impressive.

Two of the strokes the gap between M & F world record holders is about 5 seconds. The other two 10 seconds… stands to reason the M would swim the 2 legs where the gap is largest and the F the 2 legs where the gap is narrower …
 
Finally watched the some of the Olympics. I enjoy the most the new inclusions but had a laugh at the BMX. I have visions of Nicole Kidman in that BMX movie 😂

Two Australian women in high jump are very impressive. At least we have got to interesting athletics sports now that swimming is almost done. Currently watching men’s road race with great aerial shots on Paris, Versailles etc. too many bloody ads tho. Save me from Olympic golf, tennis, soccer, basketball…

Well at least they don't shove in a cooking segment during the cycling then. We are watching track and field.

Switched over to the cycling and I'm confused, why aren't they racing? They look like a bunch of Sunday riders, blocking traffic and looking for a Gloria Jeans café

Thee are some weird events where they only time a particular lap.
 
Oh FFS, both 9 and 9 gem now have tennis. Give us a choice please. Very stupid programming.
 
We watched a bit of the dressage but now committed to the cycling.... even though we don't understand it.

Why are there these 5 guys at front, they don't seem cycling strong nations so how did they end up in front

Nope. Refuse to pay to watch Olympics.
 
Road cycling. What I don't understand is how these few riders decided to take off and be in front most of the way, knowing they will burn out before the end and not win.

It's not always the case.

Sometimes you have a big enough breakaway and it keeps the pelaton away or its a massive cross-wind so there's a lot less sheltered riders even in the pelaton.

Sometimes the pelaton gets disorganised especially at events like the Olympics where its for country rather than UCI races where teams operate and ride for leaders. There's also other situations where you know your team can't win the head to head sprint, so it's not in your interest to have a pelaton pack.

Or there are cases where a crash happens in the pelaton.
